Description of an Obstacle Course | ||||||
REMINDER
RACE 9 will be Monday, March 14. Pilot’s Briefing 1135 hrs in Walter Beech Hall. And not to put anybody on the spot, but it would be really neat if you could make it to even one of our races! Event will be OBSTACLE COURSE. Space permitting, we will set up a fairly compact course with the following tasks: -Through the hula hoop (but this time, fly right up to it and be ready to “catch” the glider on the other side and keep flying) -Slalom, through a line of 5 or 6 chairs (with generous spacing in between – we are, still, all about safety!) -Under a “limbo bar”. The glider goes under; you can go under, around, or over, as you choose. But for maximum score you have to re-establish control of the glider before it lands! -Over the rolling coatrack. -Maybe a final figure-8 around the columns of the audio-visual platform -Return to starting location Scoring: 5 points for each task successfully completed (e.g., throught the hoop, the limbo bar, the slalom, etc.). 1 point subtracted for each re-launch. Time used only as a tie breaker. So take your time, you will always score higher by flying carefully, than you will by flying faster if it causes you to crash even once. But if you do crash, your best course of action is to re-launch and complete the remaining tasks. Return to Competition & Race Description Page |
