B'den sat in perplexed silence, staring off after Rainbow Halurath and her rider as they flew away. He frowned and turned to face his dragon. "Croluth, what just happened here?"

Halurath says her rider got upset, but we didn't do anything wrong. The brown swung his head around to butt his rider playfully and B'den grinned. Croluth had grown a lot since the hatching and the two of them were now at weyrling status. They'd been working hard in training every day. Finally today all the weyrlings had been given some time off and B'den had seen Halurath and Naysi lounging about the weyrlake. He'd decided to use that opportuniy to speak to her, but she had seemed uncomfortable. She'd rather suddenly gotten up and left after Halurath had growled at Croluth.

B'den thought back over what he'd been saying and groaned. He'd said something about her dragon rising to mate and she'd probably thought he was hoping his dragon would catch her. He shook his head, berating himself silently and only stopped when Croluth nudged him again, silently asking to have his eye ridges scratched. B'den obliged, still pondering Naysi and Halurath.

He certainly didn't want to see Croluth catch Halurath. It would make a more interesting clutch should she get caught by another rare dragon, like one of those from the FGPC. Now that would be a fantastic clutch! Croluth crooned happily and B'den smiled down at his dragon.

I could catch her said Croluth thoughtfully and B'den shook his head. "But we won't be chasing her, Croluth. And besides, you've got a lot of growing to do before we have to start worrying about things like that."
