Esonieth's Flight
Written by Javia

'Esonieth?' Javia asked mentally. The cranky, tired dragoness didn't reply, stuck in a bad dream. Or so Javia thought until the Weyrwoman came running into her temporary weyr. Xalia appeared tense, and suddenly blurted out, "The blues and browns are blooding." Javia stared out, the weather awful. Stormy.

"WHAT?! Esonieth isn't suppose to.." Javia trailed. Xalia shook her head. Just then, Javia saw some golds and greens go between. Suddenly, Esonieth woke. Irritable, she said, It is time!

Esonieth dropped her rider off, almost knocking her over for her dragon's pangs of hunger. The bright white hide started to glow as Esonieth took down a fine buck. She started tearing into the soft, editable, belly flesh of the buck. BLOOD IT ONLY ESONIETH! Do you want these awful dragons to catch you, five feet off the ground? Then you'd have no clutch at all! Esonieth brought up her muzzle, and stared madly at her rider. Then, Esonieth glanced around her. Two blues, three browns. None worthy of her!

She sucked the blood greedily from the buck's neck. She did this two more times, before her hide became a blinding white. She sat back on her haunches, and bugled a tempt to the males. All replied. Esonieth, in a flash was off. The blood on her muzzle was washed off. One of the blues stared off, not realizing the white was gone.

Tlontyth looked up, only then realizing his awful mistake. He groaned, too far behind to catch up to the white's rapid Flight. Esonieth barked happily. Suddenly, she felt something grab her tail. Esonieth whipped around, coming face to face with a brown, Minoruth. She clawed at his muzzle.

The brown fell back, the pain ineditable. Haha, they would drop like flies. Esonieth climbed higher, rain pouring. Just then, lightening flashed, and then some thunder rumbled off somewhere in the distance. The white taunted the blue and two browns left.

The white dove as one of the two browns came to close. Way to close. Lightening flashed overhead. Visibility was becoming very hard, especially for Javia, and the three riders left. Suddenly, Esonieth gave alarm as the blue wrapped his tail around her tail. Refuverth--but Esonieth clawed him, and his grip loosened. She slid away, as the blue fell back to the ground, losing all his speed.

Brown Muneryth and Brown Solinrath were the only suitors left. Well, she'd have to choose. The Flight has been long enough, and she was tired. She panted a bit, and climbed higher, as suddenly Solinrath, the one waiting, latched his claws with her. He wrapped his tail around hers, she didn't disagree. She was too surprised. The Chase was over.

Back on the ground, Javia latched her mouth onto G'arin's. She fell into his arms, happy. He was the winner, and deserved it. That wasn't bad, was it? asked Esonieth to her rider. Javia didn't disagree. She stood in the pouring rain, protected by her new lover, G'arin. Esonieth and Solinrath gently glided home.
