Liloran
I sense something! said the blue dragon as he spiraled towards a large clearing with some sparse trees around it. The blue headed for one tree in particular and as they got closer U’mlt could tell that there was a young man sitting under the tree. That’s not a young man said Girth to his rider and U’mlt looked at his dragon in surprise. “Yes it is, look at him, he’s got the haircut and clothing of a boy, and he’s big enough to be around fifteen turns old,” said U’mlt, waiting for Girth to justify his claim. I know that, but that’s still not a boy or a young man. He thinks he’s a boy though... the dragon trailed off, obviously confused, and the two of them landed in front of the person in question. “Hello there,” said the dragonrider as he dismounted and Liloran scrambled to his feet, eyes wide in surprise. “H-hello,” he stuttered, not sure how to address a dragonrider. “What’s your name?” “Liloran,” he replied, incredibly awed that this dragonrider would have asked his name. “I’m U’mlt, and this is my blue Girth,” replied the dragonrider and Liloran jumped as the dragon reached his big nose out as if to sniff him. What are you? the dragon said again and Liloran closed his mouth, not sure how to answer that question. Boy or girl? “I-I’m a boy of course,” said Liloran, adding under his breath, “sort of.” Aha! You are a girl! I told U’mlt that you weren’t a boy! “WHAT?” cried Liloran, his eyes wide in fear and shock. He looked from the dragon to the rider and back again and then just started running. He ran back into the caverns but all the way there he could hear the dragon’s thoughts as he spoke to his rider. I did not mean to scare her off, U’mlt, I’m sorry. You should go after her. She is scared, she might hurt herself. Liloran didn’t even realize that was what he intended until he heard that and he stopped dead in his tracks in the entrance to the caverns. Catching his breath he stood there for a moment considering. That would certainly explain why he looked so different from his brothers, and why his chest had begun swelling, and...so many other things. He gritted his teeth and headed to his mother’s cavern. He would find out the truth once and for all. Continue... |
