Irony and History : The birth of a new MUX
Ahh yes.  Denver SR MUX.  Land of the enlarged FTZ, home to the Year of the Comet-hating Facists, and most of all, about the only largely communist (read : Player driven) SR MUXes around.

But how did it all start?  Well this is no definitive or even completely factual expose on where Denver SR MUX comes from, but its sorta close, I think.  I've been ' On the Ground' at some of these actual events, and have a blow by blow account of many of them.  So, sit down, top up your coffee, and lets tell a story...

The roots of Denver stretch back all the way to Seattle Sr MUX, about ten years ago.  WyldFire was a merely twinkle in his father's eye way back then, and as far as I know, wasnt even on the scene yet.  Neither was I.  But Rhiannon, aka Morganna Le Fae, was.  And here's where it all begins...

Around 8 years ago, fed up with how things were being done on Seattle MUX, a group of players and admin split from the MUSH to form Detroit, SR MUX.  From its shaky beginnings, but ever captained by one of the original team (or at the very least, majorly influenced), Detroit SR MUX continued to be whatever it always was.  Their game.  A game that they could play on, away from Seattle, that they liked.  It was their game, and they ran it in a way they liked.  They let others play, and even made accomodations for the thousands of different personalities that came through the MUX over the years, but it was always Their Game.

Many people didnt like this sort of control that "They" had.  "They" often came across as mean, insensitive, and bullying.  However, I came onto the scene about 4 1.2 years ago, and I'm happy to say, I came in during one of Detroit's Golden Eras...Morganna was still in the middle of her Golden Reign, Geoff wasnt yet Build/Code Director, and Lucifer, as always, never really played.  There were plots for everyone, the grid was active, and it was generally a good time.  For those who were also around then, I think I came in a few months after a Lnight Errant Crackdown (Not to be confused with the Blockade...thats later). So I got to see some of "Their" best.

About 18 months to 2 years after this, trouble started to brew.  Morganna had reached the end of her "Golden Reign", and had moved into the "End of Days Era", as I am now choosing to call it.  Over many years and by many people, Morganna's benevolence and razor wit have been worn, etched and blunted.  Her creativity came in shorter bursts, some would say, and her razor wit was slowly turning into a blunt, bitter object of skull smashing.  Sure, thats dramatised, but everything starts somewhere.

Morganna traded places on the RPD throne many times, infact, at last count, i think it was about 5 times she was RPD before finally giving Detroit away to what it is now, post Geoff.  During these tenures, I staffed twice, under Jen/Morganna, and one more time under Geoff.

Now to understand Denver's creation and the events surrounding it, you need to understand Whisper, and The Riders On The Storm.  If you're a Detroit Veteran, that name sends shivers down your spine.  If your post Morganna, you've probably heard of them.  Either way, they were Bad News.  The Riders, and their Front Woman, Whisper, was Morganna's premiere plot device.  Hear something about then, and you know shit was coming.  Morganna had a massive folder on these guys, and at any one time they were invovled in 3 or 4 events in the past, present, and future.  They are to Detroit what Smoking Man was to Fox Mulder.  A group of villians who you never really confronted, but were always there....and always involved in something big.
