Satellite 325-KS7 AresSpace, the new owners of the old NASA facilities, is located in Clear Lake, Texas, CAS. About 25 miles south of Houston itself, the Clear Lake region is home to the Johnson Space Centre, or JSC. The Johnson Space Centre is a large area (fenced) inside which is mostly open lan for storage and safety. Many of the Apollo rockets are still in the yard, maintained for show. The star on the below maps is the JSC visitor centre. The cross is the Research and Manufacturing Buidling, where the majority of the actual design work is carried out. The central computing system is built on Shiawese mainframes, and is linked to the Ares network via a timed SAN, making outside matrix intrusion very difficult. The compound is guarded, however tours come through the visitor centre and around the grounds twice daily. The tour does not include the Reaserch and Manufacturing building, but doe pass near it. The mainframe where the satellite plans are stored are located on level 5. |
