Visited Menwith Base today.  The commisary is stocked with American name brands and cost nearly half what they do in the US.  The base was very clean and well kept...the people were also very friendly.  No pictures allowed.
A little shopping and a caramel macchiato at Starbucks in honor of Tandi around 3:00pm.
Jim got in from Spain between 7:00-8:00.
Just one of the many different cars I've never seen before.  This car had no distinguishing marks or symbols.....that with the fact that the paint job sucked made me think it was a kit car.

Up at 6:00AM to be at Enterprise by 8:00.  Didn't sleep well - not sure if it was the coffee so late yesterday or nerves due to the thought of driving.
A little jumpy at first, but made it through my first few round-a-bouts without mishap.  Spent about 4.5 hours on the road to Amesbury.  Staying at the Catkin Lodge, a Bed and Breakfast five minutes from Stonehenge.
......(Stonehenge) is not as big as I expected it to be, but still impressive.  Lots of pictures from every angle.  Bought souveniers (yeehaw) : postcards, poster, keychain.  What I would give to be a part of the archaelogical team to work with Stonehenge.

My favorite picture of Stonehenge.

....Having lunch/tea at the "New Inn" in Amesbury.  Steak and Ale pie with veg and a half pint of Heneiken.  My first Heneiken and I'm in England....go figure. :-) The inn is a classic English pub - dark wood, exposed beams, deep colors on the cushions and carpet.  My meal was 5 pounds, 95 pence.  (Approximately $8.76)
The pub dog, Molly, is a golden retreiver on a medical diet.  Poor thing - probably got fat on patron generosity.  :-)
......I may stop and see Sherwood Forest on my way back to Harrogate.
Steak & Ale pie with veg (carrots, potatoes, parsnips and something I couldn't identify by appearance or taste.)
The New Inn - Amesbury, England
While there is a definite "class" consciousness, there doesn't appear to be as much drive to acquire in excess.  I suppose that is due to the lack of space everywhere except on the estates - and they already have 'in excess'.
All in all, England is a wonderful, beautiful, historical place to visit - but I wouldn't want to live here.  I'm afraid I'd feel a little claustrophobic.
