Our favorite hiking snacks and recipes Meals: Bean Pepperitos Cook minute rice. Mix and heat up refried beans, rice, cheddar cheese, pepperoni, and corn. Wrap in tortillas. Trail Surprise Cook Ramen/Lipton noodles, minute rice, couscous, or hummus. Add canned chicken, tuna, pre-cooked bacon, jerky, cheese, spices, vegetables, and/or pepperoni. Bratwurst or hot dogs with tortillas or pita bread (Regular buns usually get squashed) Condensed or dry ingrediant soup Oatmeal Snacks: Dried fruit Kiwis, Apples, Plums (try cutting fresh fruit to save weight) Vegetable Sticks (carrots, etc.) Trail mix/Nuts/Cereal Candy/Granola Bars Fruit snacks Peanut Butter Pepperoni Cheese Crackers Berries on the trail (if you know the right ones) Other: Spices - Salt, Pepper, Garlic, Cayenne, etc. Tang, Gatorade, or iced tea mix Hot tea bags Condiments in small packets - Ketchup, Mustard, Soy Sauce, Mayo, etc. (most fast food places have them) |
