Why a "Kitchen Witch" ?
I call myself a "kitchen Witch" because I do not use the stereotypical rituals and tools of a standard coven. I use what I can find in my kitchen or my home in general when I do my "spells". For example, if I'm doing a spell to seek happiness in love I use cloves, cinnamon and sugar, for warmth, spice and sweetness, the things I want from love. For a prosperity wish I use polished pennies and green candles rubbed with mint oil. Who needs to spend hundreds of dollars on a leather bound Book of Shadows when looseleaf pages work just as well and are easier to alter if the need should arise?  Protection spells are whipped up with sea salt and bits of stone from the neighborhood, and buttons have served in place of the recommended stone cubes in a warding spell. My  'craft is a very spontaneous one, very much a make-do with what I have approach. I don't recommend this for everyone, and I do recommend caution in what you do.  I once set up a warding spell to deter negative thoughts from entering my home and I prevented myself from seeing the problems I was having in my life and the lies I was being told by a man I thought I could trust completely.
It's my belief that in 'craft, intent is everything.  One of the most powerful spellworkings I ever did was also a total accident, no "tools" beyond my voice and my temper were used at all, and apparently the results stayed in effect for quite some time.  Be sure of what you want, confident in your skill, and above all be sure you are ready for any karmic blowback to the good or the bad. Think before you act!

My big rule for Kitchen Witching is
"Be careful what you Witch for, it may just get you!"

I also suggest never using "Dave's Gourmet Insanity Hot Sauce" in your spells. I did it once and my eyes were watering for a week afterwards! On the up side, the spell had more oomph than any I've done before or since...
