More of Vin's Work
In Saving Private Ryan Vin plays Private Adrian Caparzo, an Italian-American with a soft spot for kids and a desire to do the right thing.  Steven Spielberg created the role specifically for Vin after seeing his short film "Multi-Facial" at Cannes in 1995.  The part was amazing and was no doubt pivotal in getting Vin's career moving at the pace it now has.  Only one problem... there wasn't enough Vin in this movie!
Love those thoughtful eyes.  From what I've read the guys actually had to go through Basic Training before they started filming. I have to wonder just how that was for him; after all it isn't as if he was ever in militia or cadets.  At least having been a bouncer must have given him an edge of sorts
This is one of the shots from Multi-Facial, that short film Vin created and starred in based on his own experiences as a struggling actor of mixed heritage. Unfortunately I haven't managed to see this one yet so I can't really comment on it, but if it motivated Spielberg to write a part just for Vin it has to be a damned impressive piece of work, right? I've heard some sound bites and seen enough stills to make me totally curious about it and Vin says that it will be remade feature length, so I guess I have another film to look forward to.  (Wonder if he'll be cooking pasta for the cast & crew between takes on this one too?)
For now, the original Multi-Facial is available on a short film compilation called
Short 5: Diversity,
and there is a website under construction for
One Race at Multi-facial... Makes me curious to see what will happen there.
OK, so they snuck the premiere of Knockaround Guys past us without so much as a blip in the media. This ticks me off. Big fuss for xXx and nobody can make a to-do about KGuys?
Sounds like bitchslap time for someone's PR agents to me.
This time, tall dark & incredible plays Taylor Reese, a bare knuckle brawling kind of guy with a flair for getting his point across.  I finally got to see this movie, only 5 days after it opened, and I loved it.
I'm not going to tell you the one part that really ticked me off about the movie in case you haven't seen it yet, since that would be a spoiler.  Suffice it to say it's a typical gangster movie in many ways.  There were a few under-utilised characters, but I suppose they have to keep movies to a certain length and not everyone can have great lines.  I guess if I want to see a perfect movie according to my criteria I'll have to resort to the old rule of "If you want something done right, do it yourself."
Overall I can't complain; it was good, it just could have done with some expanding, maybe a bit on how the guys met & got to be friends.  It would have been nice to see a bit more Vin too... just my personal prejudice on that point though.
Now, from a handball fan's page I found a link to an image.  It may or may not be who I think it is, but I'm fairly sure. After all, in my job I find people for a living... Judge for yourself.
No, not the guy in the ballcap. The figure leaning on the railing above him.  Looks a heck of a lot like Taylor Reese's silhouette to me.  Kind of has that 'bouncer watching the bar for possible fights' posture going on too.  I might be reaching, but I'd say I'm 99% certain that's Vin.
And yes, there is more to come on this page as soon as I can steal the time...
