Bear and Coyote were living among the Sagebrush and Saskatoon on a South-facing hill. On a hot summer day, both of them felt really warm under their heavy furs. Panting, Bear told Coyote: "Brother, let's move to where the Great Pines will give us shade." "Non-sense!" replied Coyote. "This is where I live and this is where I stay. Do not worry, I am very clever and my cunning ways have shown that I can endure anything and be happy!" Bear stared at Coyote dubiously for a second but was too hot to argue so he turned around to seek refuge in the Great Pines where he found great relief. The next fall Bear went back to the hill and called for his brother the Coyote, who was nowhere to be found. |
