Behavioral therapies: mental disorders are caused by faulty learning
     Systematic desensitization: while in a relaxed state, exposed to increasingly frightening stimulus
     Flooding: exposure to feared stimulus until extinction

Cognitive therapies: mental disorders caused by faulty thoughts
     Make people aware of their irrational beliefs
     Teach them coping skills
     Give them feeling of empowerment
     Long-term benefits because get at the cause of problems

Some fallacies in the thinking of people with emotional disorders:
     Faulty generalizations
     Polarized thinking
     Incorrect assumptions about what is threatening
     Maladaptive attitudes toward pleasure and pain
     Tyranny of shoulds
     Biased attributions
     Personalization of events
