Chapter 6: Learning Operant conditioning: learning based on consequences. Reinforcement: increases probability of behavior happening. Punishment: decreases probability of behavior happening. Positive: adding/giving something. Negative: subtracting/removing something. Shaping: Instead of waiting for a response to occur randomly we reward closer and closer approximations. Reinforcement is more efficient than punishment as punishment doesn't give hints about the expected behavior and it can lead to learned helplessness and depression. |
