Chapter 5: Working Memory

The description of the central executive of working memory is very similar to the description of Posner and Petersen's (1990) anterior attentional system.
It has a limited pool of conscious attentional resources, and is involved in planning and integration of information.
Brain regions also overlap between the two systems.
     Both associated with consciousness.

Working memory span is strongly correlated with measures of fluid intelligence (ability to reason), as they both involve the conscious manipulation of information.
