Chapter 10: Comprehension

Beliefs level impacts comprehension as well by activating certain schemas
     Direct theory: what we know about others
     Second-order theory: what we think other people think
     Egocentric speech: failure to appreciate other people's perspective
     Indirect requests: we know we have to reply to the implication, not the literal question

Relevance: topic maintenance
     Use as a cue to monitor other people's comprehension

Quantity: provide "right" quantity of information

Rule violations: mark intentional violations with nonverbals, or over-exaggerations
