Gernsbacher's structure building framework:
Laying foundation for meaning centered on 1st character or idea
Advantage of first mention: 1st character or idea mentioned retains special significance
Situation model: building visual representation of the environment

Mapping information: congruent information is stored in the structure
Bridging: constructing connections between related concepts
Enhancement: related memory nodes receive boost in activation

Shifting to new structure when encounter connectives or new idea or character
Advantage of recency disappears after 150 ms

Suppresion: inhibition of unrelated memory nodes
