Chapter 2: Information Processing Cognitive psychology has been blamed to be the study of boxes and arrows. Use of models and analogies to study cognition is good because it makes things easier to understand. Use of models and analogies to study cognition is bad because it may be misleading to overrely on them. The Atkinson-Shiffrin model of cognition has been very influential. We can map it onto the computer analogy. But as mentioned above this analogy is limited. |
