The scene pans downward through the clouds, and shows a castle in the middle of a large kingdom while peaceful foreign music plays in the background. Fireworks explode in the air, festivities abound throughout the kingdom, and sideshows are everywhere along the streets. Apparently a big celebration was going on.

In a nearby restaurant, Lina Inverse and Gourry Gabriev were ready for their traditional extra-large meals. They both ordered triple portions of their dish, as happy as everyone else was in the town. "There. Sorry for the wait," apologized the waitress, as she set down the dishes.

"Let's eat!" Lina exclaimed. "All right!" seconded Gourry. They then proceeded to eat like a pack of wolves, as they usually did, fighting and sparring with their forks as they yelled at each other.

Gourry was suddenly hit by a large pot, and supposedly fell unconscious. Lina hesitated for only a second, and then decided, "I don't know what's going on, but now's my chance!" "Fight! A fight!" someone called, and then someone was knocked onto Lina's table, completely knocking over and ruining all of the food.

A furious Lina got slowly to her feet, her face dark and dangerous. "My... food...." she whispered. "DIL BRAND!" A huge explosion blasted everyone out of the restaurant. Two of the participants in the fight were on the ground when Lina came out, and wondering what was going on.

"You guys are free to have a fight anywhere you want to, but involving other people in your fight, and then interfering with an innocent girl's meal is unforgivable!" Lina yelled. "Moreover, when you mess with Lina Inverse, consider yourself lucky to get off so easy!" The peaceful music was long gone, replaced by the adventurous music that traditionally accompanied Lina's exploits.

The opposer, angered, drew his sword, but his weapon was promptly chopped to pieces by Gourry, who had drawn his normal sword. "Waving those things around in a city is dangerous, pal," Gourry said coolly. Then, bending down to the two mens's ears, Gourry warned that going to pick a fight with Lina WAS bad news.

"Hey! I heard that, Gourry!" Lina yelled.

The one who had been arguing with Lina didn't heed this warning, and challenged her yet again. "They really should stop, you know?" Gourry popped up, sweatdropping.

Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun, dressed in an elegant pink attire, and riding on a white horse, went purposefully toward the castle seen from before. "Father, in the name of Seyruun, I shall see this mission through successfully," she declared, pointing her scepter toward the castle.

Her moment was interrupted by a yell: "Fight! A fight!" "A fight?" Amelia wondered. At this point, two young girls started chattering about how a girl that looked only to be 15 or 16 was taking on two huge guys... and winning. The explosions seen through the crowd and the men flying through the air justified this. Amelia gazed thoughtfully into the distance at this. "It's been months since I left Miss Lina and the others. I wonder what they're all doing now..." she pondered, the event obviously reminding her of Lina's actions. At this point, Lina let out a yell of battle, followed by the sound of hitting. "Yes, yes... She sounded just like that..." Amelia nodded. Then, she suddenly did a double-take, looking over in the direction of the noise.

Lina wasn't even using spells, just attacking using pure physical force, and smacking the two guys around like it was no trouble at all. "Y- You litttle bitch! You're not half bad!" one of the guys told her, as he leaned back against the large statue in the middle of their fighting area for support.

"Boo Brymer!" Lina yelled, causing an energy wave to go through the ground to the statue. "Go get 'em, big guy!" The statue, brought to life with her spell, easily picked up one man with each hand and then bonked them together repeatedly and threw them aside. Judging by the amount of bodies on the ground, it seemed that Lina had also managed to beat up every other member of the brawl. "Well, I'd say that's that," Lina said, as Amelia arrived at the scene.

Lina looked in Amelia's direction, causing Amelia to exclaim, "Miss Lina?!" in disbelief. Lina looked toward her in confusion. "Amelia?" "Miss Lina!!" Amelia shouted joyfully, leaping down from her horse and giving Lina a quick reunion embrace. "It's been so long!" "What are you doing here, Amelia? Nice dress, by the way."

Gourry picked his way through the crowd. "Well, if it isn't Amelia," he said, as he saw her. "Mr. Gourry, too!" Amelia responded. They had a far less dramatic reunion.

"Well, I see you haven't changed a bit," Amelia commented, referring to the group of men sprawled unconscious on the ground." Lina couldn't disagree to that... Amelia then asked what Lina was doing in the kingdom in the first place, and learned that Lina and Gourry were there to see the magical Book of Xoana.

"Is that why you're here too, Amelia?" Gourry asked. "Well, actually, Daddy told me to-" Amelia cut herself off. "Uh, actually, I'm here to see the Book of Xoana too!" Lina and Gourry gave her withering glances, causing Amelia to back away while muttering pointless excuses under her breath, and then suddenly jumping up on her horse and galloping away. "Gotta run!" she finished. "What's up with her?" Gourry asked, and this time, not even Lina had an answer.

Up at the castle, trumpets sounded. A girl with green, slightly elegantly looking hair hair clad in a strange, rather revealing attire stood in the main throne room. "FATHER!" she demanded. "Has the messenger from Seyruun arrived yet?" At this point, the scene pans across a VERY strange-looking large mask positioned over the throne. "Yes, Philionel sent his own daughter here," responded the supposed King of Xoana. "Meaning that Seyruun still isn't convinced of our hostile intentions?" Their further discussion led to the fact that this king's intention was to control Seyruun, and eventually the world. "Exactly, Father..." the girl replied, satisfied at their evil intentions. This caused them to go eventually into a fit of evil laughter, which then resulted in the king gasping for breath.

"Anyway, Martina...." the king continued. "Can't you move this thing outside?" He turned and pointed at the odd-looking half-grey half-yellow mask with spikes sticking out, and different shaped eye sockets. "It's just so creepy, you know?" "What? Don't you think it looks wonderful?" Martina asked, admiring it. "It's my patron monster, Zoamelgustar." The king clearly did not like it nearly as much as Martina, but since the girl declined to get rid of it, the king merely bowed his head and accepted it. It was obvious that his daughter's decisions had a lot of influence over himself.

They got back to the main topic, which was the messenger from Seyruun. "Should we just take Philionel's daughter hostage, and attack Seyruun immediately?" the king pondered, getting  a dislikable look in his eye. Martina responded, "I've heard that Philionel's daughter is a skilled sorceress. What if she isn't that easy to capture?" "We needn't worry no matter how good a sorceress she is. Right, my dear sorceror?" He turned his head toward a doorway nearby his throne, and Martina's gaze followed.

A figure entered, clad in tannish clothing, and possessing shiny metallic hair and golem skin... Zelgadis Greywards. "Wonderful..." Martina blushed, taking to him.

Meanwhile, Lina and Gourry were discussing Amelia's most recent erratic behavior, which was even more strange than her usual behavior. "She was almost acting like she's really involved in something..." thought Lina. Lina pondered for a second, and then deduced that Amelia really was involved in an important situation, and that she didn't want them to get involved. "That's why she suddenly went all formal and distant on us," Lina concluded.

They discussed for a bit longer, and then Lina declared, "Anyway, now that we know this, we should go and help her!" "HUH?!" Gourry sputtered, bewildered. Lina looked at him. "What?" "Well... I was thinking that's just so... righteous for you to say." In a second, Lina was behind Gourry and pulling back on his mouth in a rather uncomfortable position. "Hey, I can be righteous once in a while!"

Additionally, Lina also figured that if things worked out right and she saved the Princess of Seyruun, namely Amelia, from something, she just might be able to get a glimpse of the Book of Xoana as a reward. Gourry put his hands behind his head. "And just what is this 'Book of Xoana', anyway?" he asked. Lina thwacked Gourry on the head and held it to the ground. "Oh, how many times do I have to explain this, yogurt for brains?!" Gourry lifted up the top of his head in a comical display, showing a glowing yellow substance. "Wanna taste?" "NO, I don't!" Lina yelled.

Getting more serious, Lina gazed thoughtfully into the distance. "The only reason I came to this city in the first place was so that I could see the magical Book of Xoana." A sequence began to show, showing an elegant, rounded building bathed in light. "Of all books of sorcery, without exception, the most famous one is the Claire Bible. I had several connections with the revival of the Demon Lord Shabranigdo 1000 years ago. They say the Book of Xoana is almost as valuable." The sequence entered the building. Light came in from every direction, and in the center was a single glass case. The scene zoomed in even more, and two angels could be seen around the Book of Xoana, which looked very ancient. "That book was entrusted to this kingdom, and they only allow the public to see it once every 50 years. So there's no way I can miss seeing it! Do you get it NOW?" Gourry, who was looking the other direction, sipped his tea. "Oh, sorry, I wasn't listening."

"DIL BRAND!" yelled Lina in frustration, causing Gourry to go up in flames.

Amelia, accompanied by two "bodyguards", entered the main hallway of the castle of Xoana. She was pondering the encounter she'd just had with Lina before, and wished that she could've been more hoest with her old companion. "Still, this time I'm serving as Seyruun's ambassador!" she thought, with an air of importance. In a second, her expression changed to that of worry. "If Miss Lina, the attractor of chaos and destruction, gets involved here..." That line of thought trailed off, too worrisome to continue with directly. "Oh, I hope I can keep a war from starting."

Trumpets sounded from both sides as Amelia entered the main throne room, and the King of Xoana "welcomed" her to his kingdom. Amelia at once lost her nervousness and stated loudly and clearly: "King Moros! Hear my words! We have evidence that you're building up troop strength far above what our treaty allows!" She held up perhaps the original treaty, looking the king in the eye. The king eyed Amelia as if she were some kind of bug, even as Amelia continued that if the troop build-up continued, Seyruun would become Xoana's enemy.

"Princess Amelia, our troop build-up is purely defensive," the king tried to convince her. Amelia wasn't fooled by this, however. She went on to explain that it was still a threat to many kingdoms, and the tension that was building may eventually escalate to a war.

King Moros grimaced at this, but the tension was interrupted by Martina's entrance. From the chandelier above, she laughed and leapt down in a dramatic flourish - only to land on her face. Amelia, seizing the opportunity just as she'd done in the past, smiled. "Your form is terrible. When you land, you should turn your body like this!" While saying this, she indeed jumped up in the air and twisted her body - only to land on her face. "We won't take any orders from you!" yelled Martina, as King Moros looked on in bewilderment at them both. "Our responsibility... is to take over the world!"

King Moros had completely lost control over the situation. When Amelia asked again, Martina nodded, solidifying their intentions. "Exactly! And then we'll sacrifice the world to the monstrous Zoamelgustar!" Martina stated proudly, pointing to the mask over the horrified king.

Martina struck a pose, saying that the biggest threat left was Seyruun. "Not only do you wish to take over the world, but you also wish to sacrifice it to a horrible monster! Heaven may forgive you, but Amelia will not!" Amelia declared, striking a series of her own poses.

"Just what I was waiting for! Get her!" Martina yelled, ordering the troops. Her father clutched her leg as he knelt on the ground. "Um, Martina, I am the king, so maybe-" "Shut up, Father!" "Yes, dear," her father gave in.

The forces all crowded around Amelia, but she was able to destroy them all with a single Burst Rondo. Martina saw that Amelia's sorcery really was powerful, and so she went for their weapon - their own sorceror. She gave a shrill whistle, and Zelgadis walked in on the scene. As he removed his hood, Amelia let out a startled gasp. "Mr. Zelgadis!" she exclaimed.

"To think we would meet again like this..." Zelgadis said in a soft, cold voice. For a second, he looked like his old self as he sighed. "Such is destiny..." He suddenly tensed up again, and drew his sword, standing alongside a confident-looking Martina.

"What are you doing here, Mr. Zelgadis?" Amelia asked. Zelgadis explained that he was now working for Xoana. "In other words, we are now enemies." "Oh, no!" shouted a horrified Amelia. "Lately," Zelgadis continued, "I was starting to think of myself as an easygoing guy. But this is my true form."

Amelia started going into dramatic sad poses, going on about how two people who once battled together on the side of justice had to meet again in battle. "What a dramatic situation!" she finished, causing Zelgadis to stumble a little.

"You know how powerful I am, Amelia," Zelgadis said. Amelia's thoughts raced against each other. She didn't want to fight Zelgadis, but if she didn't use all her strength, she wouldn't stand a chance... "Still, if I appeal to him as an old friend..." she thought, "...he'll see the big picture and realize that justice is-" Amelia abruptly cut herself off as she suddenly realized that the soldiers whom she had defeated earlier had tied her up completely while she was talking. Zelgadis didn't even have to raise a finger.

"A clever plan, Mr. Zelgadis!" Amelia admitted. "Using my love of justice against me in an act of psychological warfare!" "Uh, actually no, but..." Zelgadis trailed off.

High on one of the towers of the castle, Amelia is imprisoned, tied to the rafters where the bells are hung. While she sort of chats with King Moros and Martina, Zelgadis sits on the edge of the platform, his cape blowing dramatically in the breeze. "Now Seyruun will have to do what I say!" Martina declared. Amelia, however, knew that "some justice-loving person" would save her.

Indeed, at that moment there was an explosion below, and the next thing anyone knew, Lina had blown the top of the tower apart. "I've come to save you, Amelia!" she announced, as Amelia, Zelgadis, Martina, and her father fell to the ground.

"Who are you?!" King Moros demanded. Lina introduced herself as "the beautiful, young sorcery genius, Lina Inverse". Lina was angry at Gourry for interrupting, until Gourry pointed out that Amelia seemed to have been blown up as well. Lina looked over, and indeed Amelia didn't seem to be in such great condition with a bell over her head and ropes still hanging loosely around her feet. "Amelia, are you all right?" Lina asked, shaking the bell until it broke. Amelia complained that she WASN'T, and demanded why Lina had done "that". Now, all possibility of peace was over.

"Anyway, I heard the whole story," Lina explained. "Your evil scheme ends here!" She pointed towards Martina and the king, who looked horrified that things were going so badly. "Lina Inverse?! You mean the walking force of destruction?! The enemy of all who live?! The girl who leaves wreckage and chaos in her wake?!" King Moros exclaimed, wringing his hands. "Lina, the Dragon Spooker-" "Give it a rest!" Lina interrupted, getting pissed off.

The king ordered his troops to attack, but of course it was useless. With one swing of his sword, Gourry defeated them all. "Sorry for the late introduction..." he said. "But I'm Gourry Gabriev, Lina's guardian."

Martina called desperately for Zelgadis now, their last hope. "Miss Lina! Mr. Zelgadis is working for them!" Amelia explained. "He even called ME an enemy!"

Zelgadis leapt down from his perch, landed neatly on his feet, and drew his sword. Zelgadis explained that as long as his contractors don't betray him, he's obligated to work for them. "That's an admirable professional ethic," Lina commented.

"Lina..." Zelgadis continued, looking serious, "I must kill you." "Hold it, Zelgadis! Are you serious?" Gourry demanded. Zelgadis explained that he was doing so to regain his human form, the cure of which he had been searching for so long. "Regain your human form?" Lina asked. Zelgadis stared back. "Yes. In return for protecting them, I get the Book of Xoana."

Lina and Gourry shared a glance. "Oh, you mean this thing?" Lina asked, casually holding up the book that had been seen in the earlier sequence and surprising everyone.

"That's the book of Xoana!!!" King Moros exclaimed, completely bewildered. "How did you get it?!" Lina had snuck into the castle earlier, and since the book had accidentally fallen out, she didn't want to "waste the chance", so she took it with her. "You thief!" the king yelled. Amelia asked, "Miss Lina! You mean you didn't come because you were worried and wanted to save me??" "Well, I suppose that's one way to put it," Lina replied calmly. "The thing is, this book's of no use to Zelgadis." At this point, Zelgadis had a very comical expression on his face, since it's so rare to see him so helpless and confused. "All that's written in it are ancient methods of making golems." Martina, meanwhile, could be seen sneaking away in the background. "That's all!"

"W- Well..." the king stammered. Zelgadis is seen from the back, and he turns his head, casting a cold look on King Moros cowering behind him. While Zelgadis had his sword pointing toward his companions before, he whipped it around in an instant and held it to the king's head. "I won't support your evil plans any longer!" "Zelgadis is what you might call a real switch-hitter..." Gourry commented.

King Moros decided to make a run for it, and dashed off in a retreat. "Oh, he's getting away!" Amelia exclaimed. "After him!" Lina ordered.

Elsewhere, Martina was flipping all sorts of switches and levers in some sort of bizarre machine. With her settings, it began to activate, and Martina began to laugh.

King Moros had been caught. And Lina was cheerfully giving him his choice of punishments, either punishment by her, by Gourry, by Amelia, by Zelgadis, or by all of them together (how festive!). Of course, there was still one more choice... "Why don't you offer me some money so I can forget about all this?" offered a gulity yet cheerful Lina. Her companions nearly fell over.

Martina dashed up a set of stairs as fast as she could, continuing to activate whatever plan she was working on.

Lina, Gourry, Amelia, Zelgadis, and King Moros were now sitting down in some kind of discussion. "Look, just beating up this one guy isn't going to fatten my purse any!" Lina complained. "Hm..." Gourry pondered. "How much would you ask for, anyway?" "Maybe this castle and everything around it!" Lina exclaimed, gesturing towards the castle. "Who would pay that?!" yelled the helpless king.

Martina flipped more switches and levers, almost finishing her plan.

"Well, I'll have to beat you up myself then," Lina decided, but King Moros had been expecting that.

All of a sudden, the ground began to shake, and the machine Martina was in activated completely. The king let out a low chuckle. "That's the ultimate weapon passed down with the Book of Xoana! Come forth, Orihalcon Golem!" he said, showing some scary poses.

A huge golem burst through the building, with Martina operating it. "This golem can repel common spells, and can withstand direct attacks as well," Martina announced. She flipped some levers, and the Slayers had to scatter to keep from being flattened.

"Oh... I THOUGHT she ran off before! So, that's where she went," Lina realized.

"Now, in the name of the monstrous Zoamelgustar, let's go!" Martina yelled, activating something else and causing the golem to glow violet.

"The monstrous Zoamelgustar...?" Lina paused. "Do you know about him?" Gourry asked. "I thought I knew most legends and folk tales pretty well, but I've never heard of him," Lina admitted, wondering.

Martina had been listening. "I'm not surprised you've never heard of him," she said to a bewildered Lina. Her eyes glittering, she continued: "The monstrous Zoamelgustar..." The golem did a series of dramatic poses- "... is something I made up myself!" "Like I care?!" demanded Lina.

"Here we go!" Martina continued, unhindered. Flipping another switch, the center of the golem opened up, showing a huge cannon. She flipped a final lever, and a blue beam shot through the air, causing a tremendous explosion that amazed everyone. "Did you see that?! The power of our golem!!" laughed King Moros. "You should be thankful," added Martina. "I'll make you the first sacrifices to the monstrous Zoamelgustar!"

Lina protested, but then Martina simply aimed the laser at her. As she tried firing again, something malfunctioned, and the golem fell over onto her own father. Everyone ran for cover.

As the smoke dissipated, Lina reflected, "When you think about it.... That golem was passed down with the book... Meaning that golem was pretty darn old." "You mean it doesn't work anymore?" asked Gourry.

King Moros and Martina were now imprisoned in the debris of their own golem, ironically. As Martina and her father started complaining and asking to be let out, the firing mechanism in the golem suddenly started up again, and blue lasers started shooting everywhere; the thing was now completely out of control. They pondered how to stop it, while their enemies kept shouting to be let out. "If common spells and direct attacks can't be used against it...." Amelia began. "Then you have to use an uncommon spell!" Lina finished. "Yeah, I guess..." Amelia replied, and then suddenly realized with horror what that meant.

While Amelia, Gourry, and Zelgadis announced a "Dragonslave alert", causing the inhabitants of Xoana to evacuate, Lina cast her trademark spell - the Dragonslave. After chanting the incantation, she fired the massive black magic spell at the remains of the golem, blowing up the entire area, ignoring Martina and King Moros's helplessness.

Afterwards, everything was peaceful again. Flowers were shown in peaceful-looking sunlight. "Well, if they were lucky, they were saved," Lina commented. "You really think luck would have saved them from THAT just now?" asked Gourry. "It doesn't really matter, does it?" Amelia asked. Zelgadis, meanwhile, merely had his head down. He obviously hadn't liked the recent sequence of events.

From a huge crater in the distance, a huge amount of smoke billowed up in a column. Amelia, however was still unhappy. "What's up, Amelia? Why so down?" asked Lina. Amelia swalloed. "I can't go back to Seyruun like THIS!" wailed Amelia, the failed ambassador.

Far away, a figure trudged through debris. Martina was still alive, and she vowed by Zoamelgustar to get revenge. She was ruined, covered with burns, and homeless, but she would figure out a way.... MY BOTTOM OFF!" Gourry yelled as she was reciting the spell. "Buried in the stream of time is where your power grows...." she continued. "I pledge myself to conquer, all the foes who stand... before the mighty gift bestowed in my unworthy hand... Let the fools who stand before me be destroyed.... By the power you and I possess!" When she finished the chanting, she looked up, and yelled "DRAGONSLAVE!"

A huge ball of energy shot toward the dragon, and made everything explode in an inferno (including poor Gourry). When the smoke cleared, the dragon was gone, and Gourry was fine, although rather bruised up in the rubble. However, also out of the ruins rose Saman, who wasn't looking so great himself. Severely charred and very angry-looking, the village elder strode up to where Lina and Gourry was standing.

"Ah, just the person I wanted to see," Lina declared. "Can I have the payment for destroying the dragon?" "Dragon?" Saman repeated incredulously. "What about our village?!"

Zooming out, the entire village was seen to be reduced to a giant crater. Gourry just sat shocked with his mouth open, but Lina only smiled. "Yeah, the Dragon Slave's pretty powerful, isn't it?" she remarked casually. "It's TOO powerful!" countered Saman, as the other villagers rose out of the rubble with assorted villager weapons.

"Yeah, I guess it is," Lina responded. "Well, I'll let you handle this," she decided, tapping on Gourry's armor, and then ran off. "HEY!" Gourry yelled, and then laughed nervously as the villagers gave even more menacing looks.

Together, Lina and Gourry ran for their lives as they were chased savagely out of the village.
