Lucy Lawless Tv 1 Documentary January 27, 2001 TV1's documentary on Lucy Lawless last week was just fascinating. It was delightful to see this woman who has become an international cult remain so down to earth, so Kiwi. The programme, unlike many of its kind, was short on scandal because there seems to be very little scandal associated with this woman. What we did learn (and I did not realise) was that Lucy Lawless was Stanley's mother in the bank advertising campaign a few years ago, where dad wanted the most efficient service from his bank while Mum explained to baby Stanley that it was the human face of banking that was important. I loved those ads. We also (or I also) did not realise what a lovely singing voice she has, that she was now married to an American director, that she would order fish and chips for the entire cast and crew on the set of Xena . She came across as a thoroughly likeable character - someone New Zealand could be proud of. |
