The Quest : |
![]() |
Perhaps sensing that only Autolycus, "the King of Thieves",could steal the role of Xena while Lucy Lawless recovered from her injuries, the writers had Xena's spirit inhabit his body, in order to find the ambrosia that could reunite her body and spirit. As he prepares to steal Xena's casket before it can be ceremonially burned, Autolycus stumbles into a brewing civil war among the Amazons, with Ephiny urging Gabrielle to assume the throne after Queen Melosa is slain by the power-hungry warrior Velasca. Although Velasca has Autolycus jailed, he escapes with his fellow prisoners Gabrielle and Ephiny, and races to find the ambrosia, aided by the fabled dagger of Helios that can unlock a gateway to the food of the gods. Velasca tracks him, breaks his hand, and climbs toward the ambrosia in hopes of becoming a god. But Xena's spirit enters Gabrielle, who sends Velasca hurtling into a fiery pit while saving just enough ambrosia to revive her friend. |
A Necessary Evil : |

"To fight an immortal I need an immortal", Xena tells Gabrielle after the renegade Amazon Velasca, defeated by Xena, not only revives but becomes a god after eating ambrosia. Xena's choice for this mission is her deadly rival Callisto, whom Hera had rescued from Tartarus and granted immortality in exchange for her attempting to kill Hercules. Xena tempts Callisto with the chance to take Velasca's remaining ambrosia and become a god herself. Despite Gabrielle's revulsion at teaming with the woman who slew her husband, she realizes it's necessary to keep Velasca from destroying the entire Amazon nation under its new queen, Ephiny. Pitting Velasca and Callisto against each other on a bridge, Xena upends both immortals, who fall into an ocean of lava where they can battle harmlessly for eternity. |
A Day In The Life : |

R.J Stewart's clever script recounts in humorous fashion a typical day for Xena and Gabrielle, showing how these adventures give new meaning to seemingly mundane events. "Waking up" involves a fight with attacking bandits; lunch features a wrestling match with the spirited entree, a giant eel. Along the way, Xena casually engineers the destruction of a warlords entire army by a gaint, whom she then defeats with a last minute strategy involving the world's first kite. |
For Him The Bell Tolls : |

Joxer finds his inner hero in a comedy. Aphrodite bets her son Cupid that she can make any man into an irresistible lover, and takes Joxer as the ultimate test of her powers. She returns Joxer into a suave and dashing hero by ringing a bell, a spell that lasts until another ring leaves him as comically ineffectual as ever. Unfortunatly Joxer's charm overwhelms a princess engaged to be married to a prince, and threatens to trigger a war between the two kindoms. With Lucy Lawless still recovering from her accident, Renne O'Connor as Gabrielle handles the troubleshooting heroics, facing down Aphrodite and undoing the harm wrought by Joxer's dazzling but misguided adventures. |
