Xena senses trouble. She hurries down the path to the little sea coast village of Oebalus. Her friend Siras has told many tales of pirates sailing these coastal waters. Ominous columns of black smoke rise in the distance...

Sketch: Xena must simply follow the path to Oebalus and tackle the pirates on her way. The level can be ended by approaching her dying friend Siras before the entrance to Oebalus.

Walkthrough: You probably won't even need instructions for making your way through this fairly easy level, but here's a detailed route anyway.

Before you do anything else, let the Chakram do a bit of work for you. Let it go straight across the path Xena starts this level on, and aim it towards the pirate patrolling ahead. Now, turn left and get the health power-up hidden in a green bush beyond before you follow the road to Oebalus. Pick up scroll#1 on your way. You'll come across scroll#2 almost immediately, it's located in another bushy area at the left side of the road. You can't miss it. Before you continue left and down the road, jump over the stony little part of the wall right ahead. Behind it you'll find your first of four armour upgrades in the game. (These fellas are important to get because the amount of damage done to your enemies is gradually increased.)

A pirate approaches when you arrive (hint: pirates are a noisy breed, so you can hear them before you see them, shouting things like: "It's Xena!" or "Don't let her escape!"). Finish him off and also take care of his two buddies who have come to avenge their friend. The bridge ahead offers a bald pirate, who is slightly harder to kill. But it takes just one hit from the Chakram to smash this kind, so if you're already trained in using this weapon, try it.

Don't go up the bridge yet. On either side of it, a health power-up is waiting for you on a grass patch. Don't worry, the water can't hurt you. Just make sure not to venture off too far on the right side since the sea is lethal. Cross the river and follow the path. Now, get ready for your first bit of real action. Two pirates and three of their bald brothers need your attention. When you've killed them, approach your poor friend Siras to end the level.
