Story

Once again, evil has some distasteful plans, and like always, it's up to Xena to stop them. So what happened? There's a bit of history behind the whole scene...

Many, many years ago, the gods fought a bloody war against the Titans, in order to rule the universe. The gods had an evil spy among them, a minotaur-like monster, named Kalabrax, who was hired by the Titans to find out what the gods were planning against their enemies. Kalabrax was very valuable to the Titans as she had a special power in her eyes that could make her see anywhere in the universe. But alas, the Titans lost the war and the gods now had all power over the universe. The Titans were locked up deep under the earth, and Kalabrax was imprisoned in a temple high up in the mountains. However, she wasn't planning to stay there for long...

Kalabrax decided to use her evil eye to read every book, every manuscript and other writing about black sorcery, and thus master all the evil powers to rule the world herself and throw off the gods. She called this the New World Order. Many centuries passed. Kalabrax used every second of her time to master the black arts and eventually succeeded. She has come to know now that if she wants to establish her evil New World Order, she must make a sacrifice of any human queen. She temporarily transforms herself into a human using her new abilities and escapes from her prison. Wandering around the mortal world, Kalabrax notices Xena's best friend Gabrielle, and comes to know that this lady is one of the Amazon queens. The evil sorceress decides to kidnap Gabrielle (with the help of her cruel henchmen including King Valarian and Queen Narsus) and sacrifice the poor kid up in the high temple and so make her dream (or is it a nightmare?) come true...!

This is where Xena comes in. One day, she and Gabrielle are on their way to Oebalus, a little village in which an old friend of Xena's, Siras, lives. When they've almost reached this place, Xena notices thick, black smoke coming from above the settlement, and she tells Gabrielle to wait for her while she goes and tries to find out what's happened. And so the adventure begins...
