“If nothing happens, we’ll meet back here in exactly one hour.”  Scully said.  Piper, Trinity, and Mulder all nodded together.  Trinity and Piper looked at each other and they embraced.
“I’ll see you in an hour.”  Trinity said.
“Yea.”  Piper whispered.  The girls let go of each other and turned towards the woods.  “Oh…and Trinity, I could never have made it through these two weeks without you.”
“Ditto.”  Trinity said.  Mulder looked at Scully.  They both knew what the two girls were afraid.  They were scared that neither of them would come out of the woods alive.  Trinity followed Mulder into the woods and Piper followed Scully.
The two pairs walked deeper into the woods, separating from each other.  Trinity trudged along next to Scully.  They cleared a path as they walked along, trying not to get stuck with branches and thorns.  Trinity picked a leaf out of her hair, throwing it onto the ground.
“So, I’ve heard you and Piper talk about Celine Dion but what else do you talk about?”  Scully asked, looking around.
“Well, I’m into soccer and singing.  I love to sing.”  Trinity said.  “How about you, have any hobbies?”
“Work.”  Scully said.  “That’s basically all I do.”  Scully answered.  They continued to walk, listening for the sound of anything.
“Have a boy friend?”  Trinity pried.
“No.”  Scully said, realizing what Trinity was getting at.  “Mulder and I have a very friendly, working relationship.”
“Yes, very friendly.”  Trinity said, laughing.  Trinity stopped walking but Scully continued.  She turned as she saw Trinity standing still.
     “What is it?”  Scully asked.
“I think I hear her.”  Trinity said.  Scully pulled out her gun and walked back towards Trinity.

Meanwhile, Mulder and Piper were walking through a different end of the woods.  Piper walked ahead of Mulder slightly, looking back and forth as she walked.  She brushed away a branch from in front of her face.
“So, is there anything else you do besides try to help FBI Agents?”  Mulder asked.
Piper smiled.  “I play field hockey with my friends and I like to write.  Actually, I love to write.”  Piper said.  She walked further and stopped.  “I hear something.”
“Is she out there?”  Mulder asked drawing his gun.
“I don’t know, but don’t make a sound.”  Piper commanded.  Piper walked slowly, trying not to make a sound.  The noise got louder but this time it sounded like two sets up footsteps.  Piper and Mulder spun around at the same time and saw two figures standing before them.  Mulder was eye level with the barrel of a gun.
“Piper.”  Trinity said, recognizing Piper and Mulder.  Mulder and Scully lowered their guns.
“That was you then.”  Piper sighed, realizing the sound must have come from Trinity and Scully.  Every time she heard a noise, she held her breath, afraid of who or what she might come in counter with.
“You heard the noise too?”  Scully asked.
“Yea, but wasn’t you?”  Piper answered.
“I don’t think so.”  Trinity said.  The four of them continued to walk together when something growled from deeper into the woods.  Scully ran through the woods and Piper followed her.  Mulder ran a little more down the path, trying to cut the creature off on the other side.  If they could surround her, then she might give up.  Trinity ran after Mulder, not having much else to do.
The creature jumped out in front of Mulder.  He pointed his gun out but the creature stared him in the eyes.  Mulder felt an electrical shock go through his body and he fell to the ground.  Trinity ran backwards, afraid the creature was about to go after her, too.  Trinity ran as fast as she could until she caught up with Piper and Scully.
     “Where’s Mulder?”  Scully asked.
“He fell, he was in shock or something.”  Trinity stuttered.  She breathed heavily after running so hard.
Scully ran into the woods, Trinity and Piper screaming after her.  Trinity and Piper listened as a high pitched scream rang through the air.  It came from Scully.  Trinity and Piper stood together in awe.
“It’s her eyes, don’t look into her eyes.”  Trinity said.
“This may be our only chance to find her and catch her.  Let’s do it.”  Piper whispered.
Trinity and Piper began to run back to where Mulder had fallen.  They reached him, and Trinity kneeled next to him.
     “Agent Mulder.”  She said.
“I’m okay, find her.”  He said.  “Take this.”  He held his gun loosely in his hand.  “Just point and shoot.”
Piper took the gun from him, knowing what she had to do.  The two girls ran through the forest not caring what hit them.  Trinity could tell her legs and arms were bleeding from the branches and thorns.  They continued to run, out of breath.
Piper spotted Thumper deeper into the woods.  “There she is.”  She whispered.
“Let’s go.”  Trinity said.  They both ran, the gun was pointed outwards in Piper’s hand.  They got closer but Thumper didn’t move.  Trinity slowed down as they neared Thumper.  As soon as they were spotted, Thumper began to run.  Piper pointed the gun and shot.
“Trinity, Piper!”  Scully shouted through the woods.  She ran to them with her gun in her hand.  “What happened?  Where’s Mulder?”
A tear began to roll down Piper’s cheek.  “He’s in the woods.”  Trinity said.  “What happened to you?”
“I don’t know, I felt something go through my body after I saw her.  Where did the gun shot come from?”  Scully asked.
Piper dropped the gun from her hand.  Scully picked it up, realizing what happened.  “You shot her.”  She said as a statement, rather than a question.
Piper nodded.  Trinity looked down at her legs and saw blood dripping down.  Her face was bleeding and so were arms.
“What happened to you?”  Piper asked.
“Whatever happened, it happened to you, too.”  Trinity said pointing at Piper’s legs and arms.
“What’s going on here?”  Mulder asked running to the three girls.
“I shot her.”  Piper said.  “I didn’t what else to do.”  Piper began to cry hysterically.  She collapsed unto the ground not caring how badly she was hurt.

Two hours later, Piper and Trinity were sitting on two hospital beds that were parallel to each other.  Mulder and Scully stood outside the room watching as two nurses stitched and bandaged Piper and Trinity's wounds.  As soon as they were finished, Mulder and Scully entered the room.
“Do you want us to take you home?”  Mulder asked.
“We want to know what happens to Thumper.”  Trinity said.
“I should never have shot her.  I didn’t know what else to do.”  Piper began.
“Piper, it’s not your fault.  You did the right thing.”  Scully soothed.
     “Is she…dead?”  Trinity asked.
“No, actually she’s not.  Piper shot her in the stomach and fortunately if it’s treated, it’s not fatal.”  Scully explained.  Mulder put his hand on Scully’s shoulder and led her into the corner.
“I’m not going to take them home.”  He whispered.  “Why don’t you go down and see if you can get a statement from Thumper.”
                                                                                       *     *     *     *
Inside a different hospital room, Scully stood near a doorway.  Thumper was lying on the bed with her eyes taped shut.  She had restraints on her arms and legs.  Her hair was covered in leaves and sticks and her face was covered in dirt.
“How did you do it?”  Scully asked.
“What do you mean how did I do it?  I killed them.”  Thumper answered.  Her voice was rough and it sounded murderous.  Scully could tell she didn’t like this interview very much, and that she might not cooperate.
“Why did you kill them?”  Scully asked.
“I was hungry.  Do you know what it’s like to be hungry?”  Thumper asked.  “I feed on the dead’s blood, leaving them behind to die.”
“You’ll be held here until you tell us why or how you killed those young girls. If we can get hard evidence to put you at all the crime scenes we can keep you in jail for life. You have nothing to loose.”  Scully said.
“And I have nothing to gain.  I was so nice to Piper.  I helped her when she had no one, I cared for her when she needed someone and because of that she shot me.  There’s no love in this world.”
“There’s love but you don’t deserve it.”  Scully said.  She walked out the door, slamming it behind her.
