Scully took out her pad and a pencil.  She began jotting down some notes to describe the crime scene and the two girls who were helping her and Mulder.  She would later use the notes to write up her final field report after they had solved the case.  With the small amount of evidence, the case didn’t seem to be able to be solved easily but Scully knew that they had solved harder cases.
Scully looked to the two girls and smiled.  She walked back under the tape, knowing what she was going to have to do.  Mulder took one last look at the spot and followed Scully to where the girls were.
“I want to help solve this.”  Piper said.
“Me too.”  Said Trinity.  “We want to find out what happened and how we can stop it.”
“Girls I don't know....”  Scully began.
“Agent Scully and I can’t decide anything concrete right now.  However, I would like to ask you how long you guys have known each other.”  Mulder said.
“Um…last Monday so for about three days.”  Trinity answered.
“We were going to go do latrine duty when we first realized we were obsessed with Celine Dion.  The most interesting things can happen when you’re up to your ears in pine-o-pine.”  Piper said laughing.
Latrine duty was one of the many things that all the campers hated.  Not only did the latrines smell bad, but they some of them had been known to have wild animals inside.  No one at the camp thought that peeing in a whole in the ground was sanitary.
Scully took hold of Mulder’s shoulder and led him where the girls couldn’t hear them.  Her voice was in a low whisper.  “I need to go autopsy the body as soon as possible.  That’s the only piece of evidence we have and we don’t want it to…go bad so to speak.”
Mulder nodded.  “I’ll drive you down there and then I’ll come back up her and see if I can get acquainted with the camp by myself.”  He said obviously pointing out the fact that Piper and Trinity were not welcome.
The two agents walked back to Trinity and Piper who were silent for once.  “Agent Mulder and myself have things that need to be done.  We’ll contact you if we need anymore help.”
Mulder and Scully walked away before Piper or Trinity could say anything.  They watched as Mulder and Scully made their way back to the parking lot.  As soon as they were out of sight, Trinity and Piper walked back to their unit and got their lunches ready so they could eat.

Scully walked into the small, metal room.  She was wearing a pair of blue scrubs.  Another doctor in the room had already opened the freezer that was marked “Sandra Mitchell”.  Scully helped the other woman lift the body onto the autopsy.
“Why don’t you start with some pictures.”  Scully said.  She walked through the push through doors where Mulder was standing.
“I’m going to head back to the camp and get one of those hand drawn crappy maps to see if I can find my way around that camp.”  Mulder said.  “I’ll come back to pick you up when I’m done.  Call me if you need anything.”
Mulder walked out of the room, leaving Scully standing alone.  She walked back into the room and snapped on a pair of latex gloves.  She slipped on a paper mask and put a hair net over her short, red hair.
Scully walked to the table that held the body and pulled over a tray of autopsy tools.  The other woman had finished taking pictures and Scully picked up a knife.  She cut into the dead bodies’ chest.  She could feel the warm blood on her gloves but the feeling no longer bothered her as it did back in medical school.

Two hours later, Mulder was in the middle of Camp Kowena.  Somewhere in the distance he could hear a group of girls singing obnoxious songs.  He had managed to find most of the other units with the small map but he couldn’t seem to find his way back towards the meadow.  He was in the middle of the woods after he thought he saw a path but it turned out to leave to a wall made of stones.    Mulder looked at the map, flipping it over and turning it sideways.  He no longer knew where he was and he had no way of finding out, either.
“Okay, so where could he have gone?”  A female voice asked.  Mulder turned to where he thought the voice was coming from.  He was hoping whoever was out there would be able to help him get out.
“With the maps that they hand out here, he could have gone anywhere.”  Another girl voice said.  Mulder walked towards where he heard voices.
     “Hello?”  Mulder called out.
“Over here, agent Mulder.”  The first voice called.  The two girls ran through the woods and Mulder finally figured out who it was. He saw Trinity and Piper running towards him.
“What are you girls doing here?”  Mulder asked.  He was glad they were there to help him but also suspicious that they always seemed to be everywhere he was.
“We overheard you and Agent Scully discussing that you were going to come back and try to find your way around.”  Piper said.
“Besides that, we also saw you walk into the camp about two hours ago.  After that long of a time we figured you were lost.”  Trinity explained.
“We were coming back from the waterfront to go to flag when we got ‘separated’ from our group.”  Piper informed.
“Let’s go before we miss our bus.”  Trinity said.  She and Piper began to make their way out of the woods.  Mulder followed but kept his distance, still unsure whether the girls were friends or enemies.  The girls led Mulder out of the woods and then left him on his own.  They ran down towards the bus so they wouldn’t miss them.
Mulder walked a little more around the camp.  He went around the entire thing once more just to familiarize himself with it.  Mulder walked up to the waterfront and stared put across the lake.  With no little girls around, the lake was peaceful and beautiful.  Mulder looked down at his watch and sighed.  He knew Scully was going to be angry with him.  After performing autopsies, she was usually pretty upset.

In the mean time, Scully was standing outside the morgue.  The lab assistance was still stitching up the body.  Final pictures were being taken and a white sheet was being placed over the body.  When Mulder comes I’m going to kill him, she thought.  She looked down at her watch, and sighed.  She hadn’t eaten anything since six that morning and even that was just a small bowl of cereal.
She took the small tape player from her pocket and began speaking into it.  “As a typical male, Special Agent Fox Mulder is fashionably late after I just performed a three and a half hour autopsy.”  As she spoke a small, dark blue car rolled up to the sidewalk.      The man inside rolled down his window and Scully quickly recognized it as Mulder.
Scully opened the car door and slid inside.  She fastened her seat belt and crossed her arms over her chest.  She faced forward, not even looking at Mulder.
“Scully, I’m sorry I was late.”  Mulder apologized.
“I have something I truly want to say but I’m not going to in fear that they could use it against me in a court of law.”  She paused.       “Mulder, where were you?”  She asked angrily.
“You know, Piper and Trinity were holding me up and then I got stuck behind some buses.”  Mulder’s voice trailed off.
Scully had a feeling that Mulder’s excuse was bogus but she was too tired and hungry to argue.  All she wanted to do was go to the hotel room, order room service and take a nice hot shower.
“Are you too angry at me to tell me what killed Sandra?”  Mulder wondered.  He put his foot on the gas and pulled away from the curb.  He began driving away, looking for the nearest hotel.
“I’m mad but I guess I’ll tell you.”  Scully said.  “It appears the girl died of loss of blood due to the scratches over her entire body. But that’s what I expected.”
“Yea, but who could have made the scratches.  The police report said it most likely wasn’t animal scratches.”
“Well, it could have been a rabid animal, that the police couldn’t identify with their own eyes.  It’s possible that an immigrant or someone from another state came and brought an animal which made its way to the woods.”
“I guess that’s possible but do you know how unlikely that is?”  Mulder wondered not quite believing Scully’s theory.
“I must admit, Mulder, that it’s not very plausible but it’s more plausible than saying that witch craft killed her.  I think what we need to do is get an animal specialist out here, to identify the scratches.  We should also have the woods surrounding the camp searched for rabies.”
“I don’t know, Scully.”  He sighed.
“Regardless of what you think, we’re going to have to stay at Camp Kowena until we figure out what happened to this girl.  It will take to long to close the camp down.”
“So you’re saying we’ll have to wait for this thing to murder again, before we can get a solid lead on the murderer.”
“Well, as of right now, we don’t have much to go on.  We should go to the camp and find out if there’s a night we can stay over.”  Scully suggested.
“What are we going to do with Piper and Trinity?”
“They could be of some help.  They know things about the camp.  They know the people there, and they seem to be rather mature.  They were also the first ones to see Sandy Mitchell dead.  I think we should keep them around to help us out.”
Mulder looked down at his watch and sighed.  “Well, the camp is closed for the day.  We should check into a hotel and go back tomorrow.”
