“What are you doing here?”  She said as coolly as she possibly could under the circumstances.
“You figured me out, Piper.  You and your friends.”  The man said.  His voice was strong, and unbreakable.  The familiarity of it sent a sharp chill down Piper’s spine.  “I knew you were smart but I never knew how smart.”
“What do you want with me?”
“You should know, Piper.  The pattern.  You know someone has to die right here in this very spot.  A random killing.  The perfect plot.  Never get caught and you have the ability to seek revenge.”
“You’re a sick man.”  Piper said as she reached beneath her seat has subtle as possible.  She groped for the tape recorder that was supposedly underneath her.  She felt it and hit a button, hoping it was the right one.
“Funny, that’s what my colleagues told me.  You all deserve to die and she…she deserves worse than death.”
“Who?  Ms. Winchell?  Because of your sister, right?  You’re framing Ms. Winchell because of your sister.  She’s a good teacher!  She doesn’t deserve this!”
“My sister didn’t deserve what she got!  She deserved a chance and now she’s dead.  All because of that one woman.  And now it’s time for her to pay!”
“How?  By killing innocent people.  By killing me?”
“You think you know me.”  He pulled a needle from his pocket and rested it on his thigh.  A shock of fear hit Piper full blast.  She didn’t know what to do, how to save herself.  She prayed that her friends would be on the way.  She wanted to move, to turn her head to see if someone was coming but she knew any false move and she could die.  That’s when she remembered the gun that Mulder had given her.  Was it possible that it could scare him?  She took her chances and grabbed for the gun.
She pointed it towards his chest.  “Looks like your plan has a flaw.”  She said stiffly.
     “You wouldn’t dare.”  He challenged.
     “I wouldn’t test me.”
He stared from the barrel of the gun to the tip of the needle that still rested on his leg.  A wooden shaped triangle was at his feet.  Piper eyed it for a brief moment and then looked back at him.  She knew what he had come here to do.  She knew he had known exactly where she was going to be.  He might have picked random victims but Piper had been getting too close to the truth.  He had to get her to the spot where he could dispose of her without being caught.  His plan had worked up to that point, so what had gone wrong now?
If Piper was right about him targeting her because of her knowledge of his ways, who would be next?  Would he pray on Maxine, who figured the entire thing out, or would Erin be the next victim?  The ideas raced through Piper’s mind.  She knew the gun had blanks and if the time came, it really would do her no good but for the time being it was doing what it should be doing…scaring him.
“Piper!”  Someone screamed from a distant.
Piper turned her head, trying to see where the sound was coming from.  She unintentionally lowered the gun, in attempts of turning around.  He took the chance and snatched the gun away from her hands.  She shrieked and spun around.  He quickly picked up the wooden triangle from the floor and swung for Piper’s head.  She ducked but he managed to hit her arm.  She screamed in agony.  Her left, undamaged arm grasped for the door handle.  She found it and jumped out of the car.  She spotted Erin and Max running towards her.
“Piper, are you okay?”  Maxine yelled as she ran up to her.
“We have to stop him!”  Piper shouted.  She turned around to see Dr. Greene running down the street.  She clutched her arm and began to sprint off after him.
Max looked over at Erin.  Neither of them knew what to do.  They didn’t know why Dr. Greene was there in the first place.  Different scenarios streamed through their minds.  Erin took one last look around and then bolted off after Piper and Dr. Greene.  The people and cars around stopped to watch the deranged chase.  Maxine spotted the gun on the driver’s seat.  She climbed into the car and grabbed it.  She looked at the gun and then began running towards Dr. Greene.
Piper remained a few steps behind Dr. Greene the entire way.  She was just out of arms reach to pull him down.  He turned his head to see how much of a lead he had.  As he turned, he ran out onto a side street.  An unsuspecting car barreled out in front of him.  He turned his head only to find himself running into the car.
The car screeched on its breaks but he had already run into it.  Erin and Max ran up to the street, watching Dr. Greene squirmed on the ground.  Piper watched him, feeling no pain or regret.  The driver of the car had gotten out and started raving on about how sorry he was.  Max held the gun in her left hand.  She handed it to Piper, who gave her best attempt at a smile.  She kept the gun trained on Dr. Greene hoping it would stop him from getting up.  It did.
“Max, you and Erin run back to the school and get Mulder and Scully.  Tell them…”  Piper commanded.  She stopped as she saw Mulder and Scully running towards them, guns pointed outwards.
“Piper, what happened?”  Mulder asked as he eyes Dr. Greene on the phone.  He put his gun in its holster as Scully bent down next to Dr. Greene.  Before checking his vitals she handcuffed his hands behind his back.
“It’s all on tape.”  Piper said.  “He confessed to the murders.”
“What happened to your arm?”  Mulder wondered.
“He tried to attack me.  It might be broken or something.  The needle that he used is in the car and saw is the triangle that we found in Ms. Winchell’s room.”  Piper responded.  She held out the gun that was in her hand.  Mulder took it and dropped it in his pocket.
“Let’s get him out of here.”  Scully said.  She had helped Dr. Greene to his feet and was now walking with him, not letting go of his arm.  She had dismissed the driver after writing down his name, insurance agency, and license plate.
“I’ll call a cab and take Piper to the emergency room to set her arm and I’ll drop the rest of you off at school.”  Mulder said.  “You take him down to the station.”
Scully nodded in agreement and began walking back towards her car.  Dr. Greene stopped in front of Piper and spat at the ground by her feet.
“It was almost perfect.  I will get revenge.”  He threatened.
Piper ignored his comment and turned to Mulder.  “I want to talk to Ms. Winchell before we go.  I think we all do.”  She said.  Mulder nodded and began to lead the girls back towards the school.
