“How?” “I programmed it that way. So I could control people’s lives like no other person can. Your Sims rub my magic lamp and I not only own them but I also own you. I killed your parents and no one will ever know, because now I can kill you.” “You took away my Sim’s cooking skills even though they had plenty because you knew the stove would light on fire. You took away my other Sim’s energy so he would die in the pool.” “You think you’ve got this all figured out, don’t you?" Piper looked to the computer screen. He was playing the Sims. One of them was standing by a hamster cage, crying. Piper looked at him with wide eyes. She knew what was going to happen. She clutched her stomach as a sharp pain went through her entire body. She tried to stand and walk away but she couldn’t. She fell to the ground. “Never get a pet unless you can care for it.” He said as he stood over her. “The hamster disease.” Piper whimpered. Orman began to laugh as he turned into the genie. “No!” Piper screamed. Max ran into the room and watched as Orman disappeared into a cloud of smoke and then was sucked into the computer. Max was in awe. She stared at the computer but then noticed Piper lying on the ground. She ran over to her and held her head in her hands. “Scully, get up here now!” Max yelled through the microphone. Chapter 15 One week later 4:32 PM Scully, Doggett, and Max sat at Piper’s dining room table. Piper bent over the oven and took out a pan. She brought it over to the table and placed it in the middle. She took off her oven mitts and sat down. “Looks great, Piper.” Scully complimented. “Thanks.” Piper responded. Max grabbed a spoon and began to dish out the food. She put some on her plate and then began to eat it. “Wow, surprisingly, this is really good.” Max said sarcastically. Piper threw one of her oven mitts at Max who laughed as it hit her in the face. “Looks like you’re feeling better, Piper.” Doggett said as he scooped himself some food. “Yea, I’m better.” Piper said as she looked at the wall. A picture of a hamster was hanging in the kitchen. “What did the courts say about Orman and the Sim company?” Piper asked. “Well, for the time being they’ve shut down the Sims. They’re recalling all Sim games though it will take months to get them all back.” Scully said. “And they haven’t found Orman Sim.” “And they never will.” Max said. “Well, we had his confession of killing your parents on tape so if he is captured he will be imprisoned for life.” Doggett informed them. “But no one will ever believe that he’s a genie.” Piper said. “No, but we know what we saw and we’ll never forget it.” Maxine believed. Scully decided to change the subject. “So, Piper, what are you going to do now?” She asked. “Well, Suzanne had been planning on moving to New York but she’s decided not to. She’s gonna stay here and use the money she earns from work to support us. Lynn’s moving home and she’s going to get a job between classes and on weekends. I’m going to obviously stay in school and I think I might get a job on the weekends to get more money coming in.” Piper explained. “Do you have family around?” Doggett wondered. “Yea, my grandmothers don’t live too far away and I’ve got cousins and aunts not far so they’re here when we need them. We’ll get by, we always do.” Piper said. The rest of the meal was eaten in silence. Maxine left soon after when her father came to pick her up. The next say was a school day so they couldn’t stay out too late. “Well thank you for a nice meal.” Scully said as she took her coat from Piper’s front closet. “I’m glad you guys decided to stay. It really meant a lot to me to have you there when I woke up.” Piper said. Scully nodded and they hugged. “Unfortunately, we have to go but I’m sure we’ll see each other again. E-mail me and let me know how things are going.” Scully said. She let Piper go and then walked outside. “And I wanted to say I’m sorry.” Doggett said as he faced Piper. “For what?” Piper asked. “For being a…snot. For not believing in you.” Doggett answered. “Well, we all have our doubts. I’m glad Scully got paired up with you.” Piper said. There was a long uncomfortable silence between them. “You better go, you’ll miss your plane.” Doggett nodded. “Thank you.” He said. He turned to leave but the turned back. He gave Piper a swift hug and then began to walk outside. “Doggett.” Piper said. Doggett turned around. “You think Orman is still out there in someone else game waiting to prey on them?” “I hope not, Piper.” Doggett said. He looked her in the eye and then got into his car. Piper watched as they drove away. She shut the door and slid down the wall as she began to cry. * * * * Later that night, Erin turned off her computer. She yawned and looked over at the clock. It was almost 1:30 in the morning. I am not going to want to get up in the morning, she thought. She stood up and walked down some stairs to her bedroom. Back upstairs her computer screen turned blue. It was turning itself on. It loaded up and then immediately connected to the Sims. One of her Sim families started up and rubbed the genie lamp. The genie popped out and smiled. Good thing I have a lot of room for an author's not because I have a lot to say. Okay, first off: I do play the Sims regularly and I love it. I never meant to put down the Sim game or the Maxis company. No copyright intended. If anyone has a problem with this story I will remove it as soon as possible. I do know that the Sims was manufactured in California but I do not know whether or not there is really a Sim factory. So the Sim factory and Orman and Myron Sim are totally made up characters. Well, besides the legal stuff I would like to say thank you to Ashley for getting me hooked on the Sims. If it weren't for her, Iwould never have played it and been obsessed with it as I am now. Thank you to Meghan for encouraging me to put this on my website because orignally I wasn't going to and she asked me to so I did. Also, I would never hope for my parents to die, I love them very very much. But I had to put something a little different in this one and that's the only way I knew how. Besides, their deaths make for interesing story lines later on. Sara, I just wanted to let you know that playing the Sims is not as hard as it looks and that you should try it sometime. Bobby, I'm glad that you liked your present and that you can finally enjoy it. Kristin, this has nothing to do with the Sims but always remember "How The Ghosts Stole Christmas" (The XF episode) and how I swear Mulder gave Scully a cheese log. Breanne, I hope that one day you will watch a X-File episode just for me. Maybe on graduation right? Oh, and who's gonna be throwing that potato at me? Okay, inside joke (lol, Meg). Becky, thank you for watching the X-Files for me and thinking that David Duchovny is hot, it makes me really happy! Laura, thanks for getting me obsessed with the Mets. Maybe that will be what my next story is about. Jess, thanks for watching the season finale of the X-Files with me right after it aired and for every other minute of the day while your're there for me. Miss you , Cactus! Well, running out of things to say. Thank you to all! The truth is out there! |
