Relena Darlian/Peacecraft

Relena, a brat to some, an angel to others, and a push for peace for all. The bio isin't gonna be biased cause' I really have a neutral opinon on Relena. Anyway... Relena was born to the Peacecraft family as their princess. When she was born, her brother Milliardo was four. Then, at the age of two in the year A.C. 182, the Sanc Kingdom was attacked by the United Earth Sphere Alliance and was destoryed. Most of the Royal family were killed, but the princess was taken in by a member of the Sanc Kingdom Sentate, a man named Darlian. He later became the Alliance's Vice Foreign Minister and his daughter was looked up in school as the richest girl and some would say that she was spoiled badly. But then in the year A.C. 191, a twelve year old Relena meets someone new at her school. She is very impressed with him, and she wants to know more about him. However, he talked very little, and spent his days spying on something, and it was clear that he worked for some rebels. (He looks a lot like Heero, so could he be...?)

Then later in the day, the JAP point that Relena and her present family were living in was attacked by rebels trying to seize OZ's new Aries mobile suits, and Relena was kidnapped as a hostage. Then a 15 year old Specials pilot Zechs Merquise comes to her rescue and kills the rebel. Zechs recognizes Relena, but did not reveal his identity to her, and walks away. A couple of years later, in the year A.C. 195, when coming back from a trip to outer space, she spots a Atmosphere Entry Capsule heading for the JAP point. Later in the day, she finds the pilot of the MS, and wanted to take care of him, but he instead hijacked the ambulance that was sent to help him, and takes off. She was intrigued by this boy, and to her surprise, she finds a person that looked just like him at school the next day. His name was Heero Yuy. She chases him around, and discovers some of his secrets along the way. Then Relena goes with her father on a trip to outer space, which was to be his last.

The Specials sent an officer to the colonies to assasinate the Vice Foriegn Minister because he was trying to advocate peace with the colonies and the Specials, or the Romefeller Foundation for that matter, that that he was in their way. So Lady Une was sent to the colonies and killed the Vice Foriegn minister. But just before he died, Mr. Darlian told Relena of her past, and she could not belive it. He then died a while later. On her way home, she met with Doctor J, Heero's mentor. She then learned a great deal about Heero, and understood finally what his missions meant to him. When she returned home, a party was being held at the institution, and she invited Heero to a dance. Since his hands were tied and he didn't want to make a commontion now, he had no choice but to agree. During the party, the Specials MSs attacked in hopes of killing Relena, but Heero ends up protecting her. No matter how he tried, he just couldn't bring himself to kill her.

Relena then goes to Moscow to meet with her Grandfather, Merquise Weridge, to learn more about the Sanc Kingdom. She had also planned to kill Lady Une in Moscow. She almost succeeded, and the bullet missed by an inch. Afterwards she was pursued by Specials troops and finally captured. But Noin rescues her, and takes Relena under her wing as a favor to Zechs. She then protects Relena, and takes her to important meetings in the name of the Sanc Kingdom. But when Noin leaves, Relena finds out that Heero is alive after the detonation of the Wing Gundam, and he is planning to duel with Zechs in Antarctica, so she sets out to stop the two. She actually wanted Heero to stop, and hands a letter to him. That is probably one of Relena's corniest scenes. Heero and Zechs are in a middle of an intense battle and Relena says, "Heero, I have a letter for you!" *Shakes head* She then escapes the battlefield with the help of Zechs and Noin. We don't see her until she rivives the Sanc Kingdom a few months later, advocating the ideal of total pacifism. She starts an institution in the kingdom and invites some of the Pacifist contries' children to attend. The institution also attracted another visitor. It was none other than the granddaughter of the Romefeller Foundation's head, Dorothy Catalonia. The two have many intense debates together, and neither really did come out on top. But Dorothy seems to be a stronger person, in my opinon, than Relena.

The institution also attracts two Gundam pilots, Heero and Quatre. They then help the Sanc Kingdom ward off the Romefeller Foundation, but after repeated attacks, the Sanc Kingdom falls. Relena was captured, and Duke Dermail then tried to take advantage of Relena and makes her the symbol of Romefeller, Queen Relena. She was now the chief representative of the Romefeller foundation. But only in name, not reality. However, some of the Romefeller's top leaders, including Merquise Weridge, wanted to make Relena the representative in name and reality, and pushed Duke Dermail to resign. He did not resign, but he did die in a confrontation with the White Fang, making Relena the ruler of the Romefeller Foundation. But, Trieze Kushrenada decided to intervene, and took the position for himself. And Relena then goes to outer space, to try to talk some sense into Milliardo and the White Fang. But Trieze says she's not able to do that, and he's right. Relena ultimately fails, and leaves everything to the Gundam pilots to handle.

After the war, Relena was the target of many groups since she was the Vice Foriegn Minister of the Earth Sphere Unified Nation. In the year A.C. 196, she was captured by the Mariemeia Army for the purpose of helping them achieve their goals. But the Gundams pilots again intervened, saving Relena and the Earth Sphere. After the war she continues to be the Vice Foriegn Minister.

In conclusion, personally I think Relena can be pretty embarrasing in the first 30 episodes or so. But once she starts advocating total pacifism, her character changed a great deal. I'm not a Relena hater, and I don't know if there's chemistry between Heero and Relena, but that'll probably be said in one of my future essays.
