Purple Hair?... A trend.

Okay, this is going to be somewhat of a rant, so if you guys don't want to read it, you can just hit the back button on your browser. But still somewhat of a fun piece. ^_^ (Hey, this is what happens when you drink too much Dr. Pepper late at night... ^_~) Besides, I don't want Meri hunting me down for this essay. ^_^

Okay, I'm sure you've all noticed this trend in anime, characters with purple hair. I don't even want to start listing the names. The list would be too long. Basically, in every Anime or Manga, there has to be someone with purple hair. (i.e. Dragonball, Slayers, Neo Genesis Evangilon...) But why Gundam? There have been numerous characters with purple hair in Gundam, most notably, Noin and Colonel Bunto. Gundam tends to be very realistic, but I don't see why they would put characters with purple hair in it. Trust me, I don't have any objection to that, and Noin is undoubtly my favorite female character, but if Gundam is such a realistic anime, why?

Perhaps this is as realistic as an anime can get without dropping some of its traditions, like the purple hair thing. Or perhaps it's supposed to stand for some other color such as dark brown. But Noin with brown hair? Gimme a break. Or another reason could be just that I've had a little too much Dr. Pepper for today and can't judge colors anymore. What do you think?
