School program participation

Any government or private high school can participate in the program.  Schools who wish to participate visit XiJEN Institute of Technology at Bontoc, Mountain Province.  The school agrees to provide for a secure room, computer tables and chairs.  XiJEN Institute of Technology provides for electrical installation, computer units and other related room furnishings.  The school may also opt to provide for a computer teacher.  In most cases however, XiJEN provides for the computer teacher.  Other arrangements can be made and adjusted depending on the capability of the school.

How it is being run....

   XiJEN takes care of the curriculum development, teacher training, lab handouts, manuals, reference materials.  The class size is based on a 1:1 computer ratio.  The average class size is twenty.  The school sets the schedules.  Students enroll on a voluntary basis and earn credits.   In all, a student had spent at least 173 hours on the computer, having the subject one hour and 40 minutes per day, Monday to Friday. 

Where the monthly fees go...

    For the program to be self-sufficient,  we charge two hundred pesos (P250.00) or the equivalent of US$5.00 per student per month.  The fees pay for the teacher's salary, electricity, maintenance and other related expenses.  Today, the program has enabled employment for at least five computer teachers.  The rest goes to a fund for the purchase of computers for new partner schools.
