Ear No Evil
Summary: In order to be popular, Jenny decides she needs earrings. The problem is, she doesn't have ears. She asks Sheldon to build her a pair of ears, but they end up being huge and ugly.
Storyboard: Mary Hanley
Directed: Tim Walker,
Rob Renzetti
Featuring
Quinton Flynn as the lancer and Mr. Smelhaus
Villian: The Lancer
Moral: Beauty is only skin-deep, and popularity isn't worth it.
Stuff I Noticed:
*As Sheldon is calculated something on an adding machine, the paper says LIE
*Lancer says 'I've seen a peanut stand, I've heard a rubber band, I've even seen a needle wink it's eye, but I've seen just about everything when I've seen an elephant eared robot girl' and this, of course, is a parody of Dumbo.
*The title is the first mentioning of the chinese proverb See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil
*As Pteresa runs into the classroom at the beginning of the episode, Brad and Sheldon are in the background.
*When Jenny walks in the classroom after getting her ears, there's a poster in the background that says study.
*As Mr. Smelhaus says, 'Turn around Ms. XJ9' We can see a poster in the back that says Language.
*There is a rotten-looking apple on Mr. Smelhaus' desk.
*Among the signs we see in the 'rich-town' the first time are Cash, Big Money, the coffee shop says Faux, The second time we cut to the 'rich-town', all the stores say Closed.
*The cafeteria wall says Foo, Good, Eat and Food.
*Jenny crashes into a pillow factory, a mousetrap factory, a billboard for toothpaste and then lands in a used car lot.
*The cars at the used car lot say Wow, Cheap and $150.
*The Lancer's shield has a dollar sign on it.
My Rating and Review:
Oh my! I really do like this episode. It did a great job of showing the characters personalities, and of creating a three-episode concept (See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil). One of my other reasons for liking this episode is that every character is in it. Jenny, Brad, Tuck, Mrs. Wakeman, Sheldon, Brit and Tiff, everyone. If I had to pick an episode to represent My Life as a Teenage Robot I would pick this one. The visuals are excellent, the sound is magnificent and the voice acting is done very well. This episode really built up the drama between Brit and Tiff and Jenny. I'll give this a B+. I'd watch it again and again.
