Yazawa-san is a very popular shoujo manga-ka. Her heroines are usually always very stylish and many people idolize her fashion sense. She has also published many illustration collections. Her first manga was Tenshi Nanka Janai, published in Ribon in 1992. After that ended, Gokinjo Monogatari began in 1995. Her next series after Monogatari ended was Kagen no Tsuki. But her most well-known project came after that in the form of Paradise Kiss in the fashion magazine Zipper, a sort of "sequel" to Gokinjo Monogatari. It starred a sort of snobbish girl named Yukari, as well as Miwako, the younger sister of Monogatari's heroine. Her newest project is Princess Ai, a manga based on musician Courtney Love.
