CLAMP was a doujinshi (fan-comic) group made up of twelve women in the 1980's. They were best known for their Captain Tsubasa and Saint Seiya (known as Knights of the Zodiac in the U.S.) doujinshi. In 1989, they published their first original comic, RG Veda. By this time, the group was now only made up of seven members. Over the course of RG Veda, three more women - Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao and Leeza Sei - also left. Left over were the four core members that have stuck together to this day - Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi. Today, CLAMP is one of the most well-known names in all of anime and manga internationally. Titles and items are being liscensed just because they have the name CLAMP attached to them. Several of the many manga CLAMP has made have been turned into an anime. And everything they do reaches instant popularity in a matter of moments. Bet those girls who quit in the early 90's are kicking themselves now...
