Reflection- A Jewish Immigration Mecca

Jewish came because of their religion. They came for opportunities, and have the right to believe in what they want to believe and say what they want to say. They had dreams to become successful in New York and so… they came, immigrating to United States hoping for what they wanted.

We had learned that Jewish came for a better life, for their religion, social, and economic opportunities. This has to do with what we are learning in class because we know that America is a place where Whites starts to discriminate others because of their culture, lifestyle and the way they look. It’s really unfair that you judge someone base on the way they look, culture and lifestyle because it doesn’t affect who they are because Whites aren’t perfect so they shouldn’t be discriminating other immigrants.

The first group of Jewish that came to United States was for religious freedom. The Jewish were ruled and controlled by Brazil and they were intolerance for other religion. In this case it’s the Jewish’s religion. The Jewish were settled at New Amsterdam, which was re-named New York.

We have learned that Jewish immigration came in three waves. And one reason they came was because of religious freedom because at their country they weren’t allowed to practice their own religion because they weren’t ruled by their own country, they were ruled by Brazil. Jews also came for economic opportunities because they didn’t have offered many jobs at their country. And another group came for socializing. They didn’t’ have much purpose for coming to America. They just came because they wanted to, “socially,” in other words they didn’t have much purpose for coming to America.

Jewish has come to America because of religion persecution. They came during the World War II. Most Jewish were settled at New York City. As I mentioned before, the Jewish came for Economic opportunities, religion freedom and socially. New York had an environment relatively free of racism, prejudices, and religious discrimination. As job opportunities, they had jobs as merchants and peddlers.

We know that many came in search for a better life and many had immigrated to United Stated because of persecution. But overall, emigrating from one place to another is hard and the Jews only wanted to come here for their own religion. To the Jews, their religion was very important to them.
