Chinese Dreams Fulfilled? |
Many Chinese came to America...but were there dreams fulfilled? Anyways what was their dream? Their dream at first was to find gold and get rich quick but they didn't because their were much prejudice against the Chinese when the California Gold Rush started. So their dream was to come to America and find work...such as workin for the railroads. But they didn't have it easy when they started to migrate to America. Many of the Chinese immigrant couldn't come in unless they are checked and approved. The unlucky hundreds and thousands had to go to Angel Island. Angel Island is a place that felt like prison to the Chinese because the Chinese wouldn't do what they came to America to do, but instead they had to do things that they hated. |

Is building railroad what the Chinese wanted to do when they came to America? They get less money than the whites and they work harder then the white. This isn't fair at all. Their have been many laws passed trying to stop the flow of the immigration of the Chinese. So does this fulfill the Chinese immigrants dreams? No! They should just go back to their homeland, staying their is much better then staying in America because they didn't have any rights in America. Is this true? Not all Chinese weren't treated fair, but not many were. Many whites persuaded Congress into passing the Chinese Exclusion Act prohibiting any Chinese from immigrating to America for 10 years. |

The Chinese working with the whites trying to accomplish a job on building the railroad, which you can see was very diffcult and it was even harder if they didn't get along with each other. Which hopefully did not happen. |
