Restrictions on Chinese Immigration?
There had been many laws carried out trying to stop the flow of Chinese immigration such as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, Geary Act, Scott Act, and the Page Law.

The Chinese Exclusion Act is an act made to keep the Chinese out of America for ten years. It is prohibiting the rights of the Chinese because if they keep the Chinese outt, then they are limiting the rights that everyone could have which is unconstitutional since the Statue of Liberty states that.

The Geary Act is extending the Chinese Exclusion Act for ten more years.

The Scott Act is an act that is a treaty made between China and America.

The Page Law is a law made to keep out the women prostitues, and Chinese felons, and contract laborers,  and if the women don't come then the men will not come. Even though it doesn't seem like it is targeting the Chinese men, they really are because if they don't allow any Chinese women in, then they cannot reproduce and in that time, Chinese can't date or marry anyone out of their race.

All of these laws limited the immigration of the Chinese to the United States, therefore making the Chinese want to come in more so they came and fought to have the same freedom and rights as any american. Although the Chinese  faced many consquences they created a place in New York where the Chinese could live together in harmony where they get along with each other making their lives a little easier than when the tried to come to the United States but were forced out.
Their have been many restrictions on the immigration of the Chinese. Lucky people got in, and the not so lucky people are put into Angel Island to do work. This is a poem from Angel Island taking about the frustirations.
