Chi Omega History
In 1894-95, fraternities started on the campus of the University of Arkansas. These fraternity boys were very secretive and made the girls envious. Three school girls, Jobelle Holcombe, Jean Vincenheller, and Ina May Boles, none of them older than 18, pretended to have a secret sorority. A dentist and Kappa Sigma himself, Dr. Charles Richardson, suggested that he help those girls to form and actual sorority. They desired to make this new organization different from the others. Dr. Richardson also suggested an upperclassman join and so the girls invited Alice Cary Simonds.
With these five founders, Dr. Charles Richardson, Ina May Boles, Alice Cary Simonds, Jean Vincenheller, and Jobelle Holcombe, Chi Omega came to be Psi chapter at the University of Arkansas on April 5, 1895.
