September 2007 Rankings

The September quarter saw little change at the top of the rankings. Sri Lanka edged into second spot ahead of South Africa while Zimbabwe reclaimed tenth position from Kenya. There were a number of tournaments involving the smaller cricket nations with two new teams entering the rankings for the first time.

New Caledonia sent a team to the South Pacific Games in Samoa and unfortunately struggled to match the other island nations. Most painful would have been the 510 run loss to eventual tournament winners Papua New Guinea. The other debutante was Mali who competed at the North West Africa Championships in The Gambia. Like New Caledonia, Mali struggled to stay in touch and was also on the end of two big defeats. Championship winners Nigeria recorded comfortable wins in all three games helping them climb three places on the rankings.

Other tournaments included a quadrangular series in Ireland featuring the West Indies, Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands; and the European Third Division Championships which were won by Croatia in a nail-biter against Spain. The Croatians now play off against Israel for the right to play in the Second Division Cmapionships next year.

Teams highlighted in yellow are those who played matches in this quarter.
