2003 -

Coventry Junior Motocross club.

When I started out into the year I was making the top 3 in the meetings which was a good start to the season. As I progressed through and more races took place I improved my riding as I got more used to the bike and my fitness was getting back to standard.

After a couple of rounds in the championship I had found a new pace of riding. This meant that I was wining meetings to get good points for the championship. As the season went on I gradually gained on the leading rider in the championship. After not finishing out of the top 3 in all rounds and taking 8 over all wins. The championship was under the belt after taking a maximum on the last meeting clenching the win to become Coventry Junior Motocross Champion.

The British Schoolboy finals

The British Schoolboy Finals is a very large meeting that takes place once a year. To qualify for this you have to ride with your normal BSMA club and then the club will send the top 11 out of each group to compete for a place at the finals. Once qualified for the top 11 in your group you have to go to the semi finals. This year it took place on 8th of June. To qualify for the finals you have to reach the top 13. Two good rides in the first two races meant that I was lying 8th in a qualifying position. A major fall on the first lap in the last race meant that I ended up finishing 18th in the last race. This meant that I did infact qualify for the finals in 13th position. The Finals were held at church lench on the 9th and 10th of august. two solid days of hard racing and battling went on and I managed to pull together 5 good races to take a well deserved 12th place. The Yamaha Best Of British National Championship

In this championship there were 5 rounds in total. As many as 70 riders were trying to qualify in each category. All of the rounds were highly competitive. They took place in Wales, Mildenhall, little silver, Brampton, and Bristol. They were all two day meetings consisting of 5 races with 4 to count. I qualified for all of them in the top 20 each time. With some strong racing through out I finished in 11th place out of 78 riders that took part. I was only 2 points off 10th place but with a mechanical fault in the last race meant that that It ended with 11th as the final result. The best finish of all 5 rounds was in little silver where I managed to get up to 4th in the last race of that meeting. It was a very strong ride as I started in 8th at the first lap pushing my way up to 4th. I went for a last corner pass on 3rd spot but pushing to hard around the corner on hard terrain meant that my rear wheel spun out, causing me to crash while going over a jump. In the space of 10 metres until the finishing line had lost 4 places falling back to 8th. This just shows how much competition there was.

The BSMA Team event

There is an event within the BSMA called the ‘Team Event’. this is where 4 riders out of each group are chosen in each club to produce a team. Then there is a big race meeting where all of the teams meet and race each other. Event though the Coventry club finished 11th. The schoolboy 125 group was the top group out of the club. We finished 9th out of 40.
