Words of Counsel Given to
Crossroads Community of Christ

As I was considering the type of activities we would share in this morning, I thought a great deal about this theme “We Are One” and sensed there was something that the Spirit needed to share with this congregation this day.

I feel the Spirit would say to us today, “Do not let these divisive issues divide you, rather, seek to understand and listen to one another.  Allow your differences and your unique nesses to build you up as a people.  Allow your individuality to act as a strengthening agent for one another.  Accept the giftedness of each one.  Remember that all are called to the task of kingdom building and that each one is vitally necessary to the accomplishment of the task to which you have been called.  You are a kind and loving people.  Seek to express this kindness and this love in the midst of your differences.  Seek to allow the love that you have for one another and for your God to be your ultimate guide, always recognizing that it is the very image of your Savior that is reflected in each one within this community.  In so doing, you will realize that it is truly Jesus Christ who you meet in each one.  Seek to become one, my children.  The task that lies before you is great, yet it can be accomplished.  However, if you do not come together with common purpose and common direction, the path will become unclear and your vision will become clouded.  Do not allow the workings of the deceiver to take hold.  Rather seek to be guided by the light of the gospel.  Remember that the call is for ALL to come unto Christ.  There is no one who is not of ultimate worth in the sight of your God.  Strive to recognize that worth in each one and seek to become one.  To this end you are called and to this task you are sent.  Remember, the Spirit goes with you and goes before you and calls you to be disciples. Listen, answer and enjoy the blessings of community.  Even so, Amen.”
