3:47 pm Hello there! Well I decided I should, before the end of the year, make good on our promise to keep diaries... So here I am at home for winter break. I could be using the digital camera to make more dumb pages of the same old pictures, but I decided that since I didn't write a single formal essay during my first semester of college I should probably make sure I still know how to put my thoughts down on "paper". The first semester at Sonoma has been a lot of fun. I've determined that the State Universities probably aren't up to the level of the UCs for one reason: Most of the students at State just aren't as smart. It's a great place for me though because I just so happen to enjoy being in the upper half of the school. I started my radio show this semester. What a great way to spend a few hours each week! I'm serious, if you ever get the chance to join your college radio station then you should go for it. You don't have to have any interest in the field as a career. Look at me, I want to be a high school History teacher. Anywho, KSUN is an underground station that broadcasts online. Underground meaning that we probably wont play anything you can hear on MTV or a commercial station. My show was Friday nights from 7 to 8. Next semester will be a different night and at least two hours. I also worked with ASP (Associated Student Productions). We put on the concerts, lectures, movie nights, and general fun stuff on campus or in the general area for students. We had Pharcyde, Save Ferris, Reel Big Fish, Something Corporate, Suburban Legends, Sugarcult, Mix Master Mike, Limitpoint, (the now defunct) Lucky Strike, and others play for the school and each show was great. The assistants (anyone who isn't on the board aka: grunts, me) put on a skate night at a local roller-rink. It was an SSU Night which means it's free to all SSU students. It was also the most well attended SSU Night of the semester which is pretty amazing since we had no clue what we were doing. I'm getting bored and I think I would rather watch my brother, Josh, play Metal Gear Solid 2 for a while. Sorry, but at least now that I've started this I will be more likely to continue, right? Plus, Robin hasn't ever started hers and this was her idea. Not entirely her fault seeing as she's in Mexico right now (bastard). ~Heather |
