Dukal Lee |
The Vamypre Hunter known only as Dukal Lee is a mystery wrapped in an enigma hidden by rumor to most that have met the man. However, herein lies the story of the man that is no man...He is simply a 'Hunter'. Dukal's story begins some six hundred and fifty years ago, with his birth to a human woman whose name is surrounded by the mists of time and lost to history. However, his father's name is little more than that, being only wild conjecture and rumor spread from person to person down through the years of his long life. The whispers speak of a name that, in some circles, is considered to belong to one of the most feared and powerful vampyres of all time. Yes, Dukal is half-human and half-vampyre. Several types of names are given to those few that belong to his race: Dunpeal, Dhampiel, Vampiel, Whampire, Vha...ah, why go on? There are indeed many labels that can be put on Dukal's race, but, one thing is certain...While they may be able to resist the call of blood that their unholy parent might not be able to, yet, they still have the craving for it. And, sometimes, they do give into this siren's call of slaughter. Yet, this dhampiel has been able to restrain himself from falling to that particular temptation. Oh, that's not to say that he doesn't follow the example set by others of his kind by partaking of bloodwine in order to stem the lust for a human's vitae. Dhampiels derive the same sustenance from bloodwine that their forbear's do from blood, but, it doesn't quite kill off the desire for the Hunt. However, Dukal has found something to satisfy that craving. The need to Hunt humans has been replaced by his need to Hunt vampyres. Why he Hunts vampyres, his own kind, is known only to him, and him alone. Though, some go as far as to speculate that it was because his mother had been murdered because of her tryst with such an unclean creature...for her supposed 'crime against nature'. However, this is mere rumor, not proven to be fact. What is fact is that Dukal has a half-brother...well, had a half-brother...named Drokon. They shared the same father, but, different mothers. Drokon's own history is as shrouded in mystique as Dukal's, however. But, what's known about him is that he, too, was once a Vampyre Hunter of some renown. However, he gave up seeking the destruction of any vampyre he came across, only to take up a quest even more suicidal. He struck out to destroy the Daemon Lord of The Vampyres, Orcus. Eventually, they met in battle on Orcus' own home plane, the Fourth Circle of Hell. Both died in this encounter, sadly for Drokon's widow, Fiona. She was the one that brought the news of Drokon's death to Dukal, as well as his enchanted sword, Nalthese. Not long after that, Dukal travelled to a land known as Bodach Coille, taking up the trail of a wanted vampyre, Rayne. This crafty villain had eluded capture and death on numorous occasions....occasions that Dukal was not involved in, until now. In Bodach Coille, they finally met, enchanted steel sword vs vampyre strength, magick, and weaponry. In the end, Dukal bested Rayne, taking great pleasure in the feel of Nalthese slicing through the flesh of Rayne's neck as it seperated his head from his shoulders, finally giving the monster his final rest. Recently, Dukal took up residence in the Realm of Castille, re-opening Drokon's bar, the "Vampyre Hunter's Rest". However, he did not like the ambiance that such a name would give the place, so, he renamed it. Now, it is known as "The Virgin's Kiss". Oh, do not be fooled into thinking him complacant or retired, since he opened this bar. No, far from it. He is, indeed, very dangerous, especially to vampyres that carelessly start trouble in his tavern. Yet, as long as they, and any other race, come in peace, they are more than welcome. The bar is a means to "make ends meet", so to speak, while he is in-between hunts. Woe to the unfortunate vampyre that finds Dukal's sword drawn and waiting for him at the end of an alley, or on the street, or even in The Virgin's Kiss. For they will meet their end soon afterwards.... |
Yeah, that's my ugly mug up there, dressed as Dukal is. And, yes, the sword's name is Nalthese.
