Cardigans bred for Companionship and Competition
Guaranteed Sound in Temperament and Body
Established 1987

I aquired my first corgi, a Pembroke, in 1975
strictly for obedience competition. Thus began my fascination for short-legged, long
bodied dogs of all kinds! Through my first marriage, corgis were not an option, and
I bred and showed both Flat Coated Retrievers and Golden Retrievers under the Norwynd
prefix. In the process of my divorce, I decided that I would have another corgi.
My first Cardigan came to me in 1987, and I have been devoted to the breed ever
since.

Why Xtacee?
Xtacee (pronounced ecstasy) comes from my first Cardigans registered name. I
purchased Rowdy during the early months of my separation. One morning, shortly
before Rowdy came to my house, I followed a woman in a brand new BMW to my office
building- her license plate read MY XTC. When we arrived at the office, I
could not help myself from asking her what that meant. She laughed, and told me that
the BMW was purchased with her alimony- her ex-husband was having an affair, and that made
him happy- She bought a BMW, and that was making her happy.

So Rowdy was named Stolen Xtacee- because
he made ME happy! Above is Rowdy at 8 weeks old.

My Philosophy:
My philosophy is very simple; I try to produce healthy, happy Cardigan Welsh Corgis
that are suitable for companionship first and competition, be it conformation or
performance, second! I believe that temperment must be our first priority- without a
sound temperment, no matter how beautiful or "correct" a dog may be, they are
not capable of performing the job the breed was developed for, and there for are not
suitable to be companions. As simple as this sounds, it has proven to be very
difficult. Because of my emphasis on temperment, I made the difficult choice, after
10 years in this breed, to start completely over with new bloodlines. I have not
been disappointed by this decision; the temperments I see in my dogs are what I believe to
be among the best in the breed. I have been a member of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi
Club of America since 1987, and abide by the CWCCA code of ethics. I compete in
conformation, obedience and agility with our Cardigans. All of our puppies are
raised in our home and are exposed daily to other animals and constant attention from
children and adults. I do not breed often, and only when I am seeking a dog for my own
enjoyment. I do not breed strictly for "show dogs", and prefer to place my
puppies in loving, single dog homes, rather than in show and breeding situations. I
am very picky about where my puppies are placed; they are extensions of my family.
