| "As a kid who loves acting, to be able to have a part of you in a movie is just great, you know? And to have my parent see it and to have Gus say to them, 'He's acting,' and my mom say back, 'No, he's not acting. That's just John,' well, that was amazing." - John Robinson "Columbine was so frightening. And the media took off with it, like everything else, so it instilled more fear in people. You're looking around at school for kids like the ones who committed the shootings, and you feel wrong for doing that, you know?" - John Robinson "I didn't fel that we were making and anti-American film. That was not what Gus was trying to do. And remember, that was at an international film festival. I'm nervous because I hope it doesn't instill fear-I mean, it's a hard movie to watch. But as far as taking a stand, I'm not nervous." - John Robinson "I felt like I was betraying my family. But I knew that trying to explain my emotions in a movie like this was more important than leaving them unspoken." - John Robinson "I think it will bring back discussion about Columbine. When Columbine happened it was the topic of the week, and we shouldn't have just moved on to something else. Whether people like the film or not, it's going to make them think about what happened." - John Robinson "If you don't know how to hold a board, you're going to look phony. That was the biggest pressure for me. Was to have that respect and to look up to that." - John Robinson "I was just a crazy oppertunity to see that whole world and the competitions that we had in the film, lik Long Beach, it was just crazy and so much fun. I felt like I lived all those moments in my life." - John Robinson "My hair was pretty long, but I had extensions down to here. So it was mostly extensions which was difficult because I spent three hours a day in the hair trailer putting more extensions in because they'd fall out and you're skateboarding and sweating everywhere and there's so much hair everywhere. It's definately a huge hair movie." - John Robinson "Prior to Elephant I'd taken about six years of acting classes in Portland, but there's not a huge market there. The only thing we have is commercial stuff, and that didn't really appeal to me. So this is really a dream come true." - John Robinson "Six months of my life training so intensely to skate and surf every day that I couldn't not, like, be obsessed with it. Now I come down here to L.A. and go surfing. I actually surf in Oregon a lot, so it's pretty cool to have that as an actor. You get to learn all these different tools." - John Robinson "So for me having that element of being able to be competitive wasn't a problem. I'm very competitive. I thought if I could skate first, acting would come second. I could say my lines and then go do what I was was saying. You don't have to fake it, you're not really acting." - John Robinson "Stacy had this more fluid style. You meet him, he's just such a nice guy. Tony's an awesome guy too, but back then, he was a real aggressive kid and they were in such a different place. Stacy was so sensitive and at the same time so competitive when it came to his skating." - John Robinson "Tony, Stacy, and Jay really looked at life completely different and that played into everything that they did, whether it was skating or with their friendships. And for the three of us, we had such a close relationship off screen, that it was so easy to have that on screen." - John Robinson "With Stacy, it was interesting because you know he was within all this chaos, all these different lives that were so broken and so much anger and so much frustration and their skating came out of that, their different styles came out of that." - John Robinson Direct Link : www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/j/john_robinson.html |
