"What do you want?" "To meet you." "To what? You gotta be kidding me. You just wanna kick me while I'm down. Sorry, one person at a time, and Miri is doing one hell of a job kicking the crap out of me right now. Or is this turning into a tag team event? What sort of sick game is this? To meet me! Give me a break!" I walked out of the coffee shop with her following. "Please! Leave me alone! Do I have to call the cops?" Thought of the irony and threw my hands up, "Great! I'm turning into Miri! How about if I go get a restraining order on you okay?" His tone was sarcasm again. He's lightened up. "Okay. I can help you fill it out." She said with a sheepish smile. "Wow. Sounds like you've filled out quite a few." "Well yeah. The ex doesn't always want to let go." "Nice! Did you help Miri in that department?" "Like I said, I just met her today. Can you slow down a-" I stopped to face her. I had noticed then, she was about as tall as I was. "Well I'm sure you both had a lovely conversation! Why don't you go catch up with her and count each other's tats!" I gave her that Cheshire cat smile, "I'm sure you two have alot in common!" "Forget about her already, Jarod! I came here to meet you. I want to get to know you. The only way to understand is to know me as well. I know what Miri did to you. I know cause I've seen it happen many times before. That's why women like her disgust me! Look, we are going to start from right here!" She stretched out her hand, "Hi. My name is Morrigan." "How did you know my name?" Okay. This is weird. "That's what she called you." I met her hand with mine. "Nice to meet you Morrigan. ...NOW LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!" I left her there. Understand my suspicion of women. I had just been through a divorce where the woman I loved and trusted turned every secret I told her inside out and used them all against me. I look back at it and it seems like everything she did was planned out. But for what? When I met her she knew I had nothing; no car, no assets of any kind. But I did empower her. I helped her graduate and get her diploma, helped her get into college. The one thing I know is she won a settlement of $20,000. Okay, I get it now. Common sense. Now this Morrigan-she fell in my lap. No way. These things just don't happen. Also, common sense says one would have trust issues. Morrigan wasn't hurt, nor did she take it personally. But she sure was bummed. She has dealt with this before; and it is a bit more of a challenge. She drove back to the hotel. The next morning after breakfast, Morrigan unrolled a large print and hung it on the East wall. "Oh Michael. I wish you could hear me now. See the challenge I have ahead." She gazed at the colors; they were slightly different than on the original. The print was the unfinished work of Michael. A woman in the nude on one knee holding a flame in her hands. As if she was offering... I woke up on the floor. It was the afternoon already, but I did not know that yet. My head didn't hurt as it did yesterday morning, and I remembered Morrigan. Up pretty late last night... What did I write? There's the notebook... In front of one or a thousand people I still look into your eyes Makes me stop writing- when I Think of how I should have kissed your hand It must have been nice to see her drawing me x A picture of letters on my chest Maybe I'll see it tomorrow then I'll be cured ...Soon with the rain the pain flooded in This flooding desire exposing the skin Declaration of folding the tears away In that^ colored cloud On that^ rainy day To rain and rain... As a thousand glancing audiences Cheer... ...Quietly to themselves for an encore... The grandeur of a grand piano, such a sexy Pulsating pump of performance ...And the stars watched and waited...Falling Asleep at the wheel of night. Corrosion... Explosion Loss of emotion Then... Woe, I sit on this dreadful night On the hot ashes of wishful thinking and sweet dreams NOW my body aches for the Genesis of addiction, And the *silence* of the crowd Which neither serves my masters or me Is shattered, as my window breaks free From it's imprisonment- a cold square World of perfection and doom Scream its song of (bone) Teeth crunching infinity As it slowly descends into a quartet of Oddly arranged wind chimes and broken bells... But the silence scratches it's way back like A tidal wave of light... ...Leaking the sound Of a zephyr, asking who shattered the silence. I heard the sound of that warm wind coming from the living room window. I glanced out of the broken pane and found my copy of 'Fight Club' resting in the bushes. <---Previous Next---> |
