Garage Band Part 5: The Benefits of Guilt
Pale green shadows reflect
   in my eyes, burning,
   off of this abandoned sweater
   leaving me cold.
Time has replaced stop signs
   with traffic lights
   and mine is finally
   -----green-----
...it's all around me...
The tar on this street
   has stopped flowing
   and it stands solid
   under October skies
Memories washed white
   and lifeless
   by experience
   and hard-earned pain
Where is my long-lost friend
   who had so kindly offered
   his hand
   for assurance?
Needing him now, yet not,
   realizing that I waved
   and he went slowly
   just as we always do
Two years of hate
   brought me
   protection from those sunshowers
and a love too strong to feel
As the curtain falls
   and the lights fade away
   the tears glisten down
          and I smile.
