Title: "Test of Faith" Author: Lady Boss E-mail: pikachu_524@yahoo.com Rating: PG - implied m/m slash Disclaimer: Not mine never will be, until I win that Powerball lottery and Vince sells them to me :) Summary: Taker and Maven await the results of a test. Distribution: Just let me know where and ask nicely :) /Up and down that lonely road of faith I have been there Unprepared for the storms and the tides that rise/ (Maven) What the hell is taking that damned doctor so long? I’m pacing in the office waiting for the news that could change mine and Taker’s lives forever. He wanted to come in with me, said he wanted to be here when I got the news, but I told him to wait outside, not knowing if I could take the look on his face if it came back positive. /I've realized one thing, how much I love you And it hurts to see, see you cryin' I believe we can make it through the winds of change/ (Taker) Why the hell did I let him talk me into waiting out here? Christ I should be in there with him, but no. He absolutely insisted I wait out here, so here I am waiting by the car thinking the worst and wondering how we’re going to handle it. /God is great indeed If you believe, in the everlife/ (Maven) Nothing like having a doctor telling you during a routine physical that there might be something wrong to make you start making bargains with God. You know, “God if this test comes out negative, I’ll do such and such”, but looking out at the doctor’s window to the parking lot where I could see Taker standing by the car, I only make one request. Just let the test comes back negative. /Yeah we gotta Make some sense of the piece that's not defined And if you just hold on, I wont let ya fall We can make it through the storms and the winds of change/ (Taker) Been fifteen minutes now since Maven went in. Fifteen long nerve-racking minutes. It’s always been my nature to think the worst of things, especially since I’d been through this before. First the waiting, then the results and then the watching someone you love slipping away. I don’t know if I can go through that again. /Though I walk through the valley of darkness I am not afraid Cause I know I'm not alone/ (Maven) Christ I’m going buggy. What the hell is taking that doctor so long? I worry about what this might do to Taker, having heard that he’d lost someone he loved to this before. Finally the door opens and the doctor walks in and apologizes for being late. Something to do with another patient and picking up my lab results. I sit in the chair across from his desk and hold my breath. /And if the wind blows east, would you follow me And if the wind blows north, would ya stay your course And if the wind blows west, would ya second guess And if it blows to the south, would you count me out And if the sun don't shine, would you still be mine And if the sky turns grey, would you walk away Would you say I do, if I say I'll be And walk this road through life with me You know I love youuuuuu/ (Taker) But I will go through it all again. Because I love him that much. I don’t know how we’re going to manage but we will. I watch the door slide open and see him walk out with a piece of paper. I wonder what that might be for then I remember Vince saying something about needing documentation for the insurance. I straighten up as he walks towards me. “Well?” I ask, my nerves stretched as far as they can without snapping. He looks down at the paper, folding it and then looks up at me. “Everything’s going to be fine,” he says, smiling that thousand-watt smile at me. “It was a false alarm.” I damn near fall to me knees in relief, but instead I grab him and hug him, knowing that having survived this test, then things might work out between us after all. /On this lonely road of faith On this lonely road of faith/
