Maybe The Rain Is Tears

CHAPTER ONE
Disclaimer: These people do not belong to me. They are property of themselves, and the WWE ( growl). If you sue me, all you’ll get is a hell of a lot of Led Zeppelin music. WARNING: This is SLASH, meaning there is homosexual relationships in it. No flames, please. Oh yeah, and it’s kind of AU… Rain and Heat Jeff Hardy came in to the bedroom to find his brother on the phone. He slumped down on the bed, and stared at the ceiling, not helping to overhear what Matt was saying. “ I know, me neither… Yeah, it’s disgusting out.” It had been raining since morning. The sky’s color was a depressing shade of gray. “ Wanna do somethin’?” This last part told Jeff Matt was most likely talking to his boyfriend. “ Yeah… Oh, yeah… Yeah, bring him along. And I’ll bring Jeff.” When his brother cocked an eyebrow at him, Matt smiled, and held up a finger, telling him he’d talk to him in a second. Then he continued to talk. “ Eight is cool… Okay. Yeah… Bye, baby. See you later.” Matt hung up the phone, and turned to look at Jeff. “ We’re going out in an hour, okay?” Jeff sat up. “ Cool. Where?” “ Just out for some drinks.” The younger Hardy leaned back on his arms. “ With Edge?” Matt nodded. “ Yeah. And Christian.” At the voicing of Christian’s name, Jeff knew he felt his heart skip a beat. That name could make him hard. That name could make him moan. “ Oh.” He paused, then told Matt, “ Actually, I think I’ll pass.” His brother sent him a confused look. “ But you just said you’d go.” Swallowing, Jeff fought for words. “ I… I know, but I’m… Kind of tired.” “ You took a nap at three!” Matt knew his brother. So he knew there was something up with Jeff. Crossing his arms, he looked at his now purple-haired brother. “ Jeff? Why won’t you go?” Averting his gaze from Matt’s, Jeff shrugged. “ I’m just not in the mood.” But Matt wasn’t giving up. “ Is it that you don’t want to be around us? Tell me Jeff. Did I do somethin’?” “ No…” “ Is it Edge?” Silently, he shook his head, knowing the next sentence would have Christian’s name in it. “ Is it Christian?” Jeff momentarily relished the heat in his loins the man’s name had brought, but then in a low voice, “ Yes.” Matt ran his hand through his hair, and sighed, thinking about this. “ Look. Christian is Edge’s brother. And if you don’t like him, that’s okay. But we all hang around a lot so-” “ That’s not it, Matt!” Jeff looked at him again. The look on his face told his younger brother Matt had figured it out. He walked over to the bed, and sat down. For a few moments, they sat in silence, but curiosity killed the cat, and not the Hardy, so Matt had to ask questions. “ Since when, Jeff?” Jeff ran his tongue over his lips. He’d known that eventually, he’d be forced to have this conversation with his brother. There was no more running from it, so he did some quick math in his head and replied. “ Eight months.” “ Man, seriously?!” “ Yep.” Matt was slightly disappointed. This was his brother, so why hadn’t he picked up on it? Mentally, he kicked himself for a little bit. Actually, he'd noticed Jeff and Christian had been acting somewhat differently around one another lately but he hadn’t picked up on romantic feelings. “ Geez. And you like him that much?” “ I love him, Matt…” Matt lay down on the bed. “ Whoa… Look. Won’t you come anyway? I told Edge I’d bring you. You and Christian can keep each other company. Besides, they both like you around, bro.” It gave him an opportunity to see Christian. Even though these experience were often nothing short of nerve-wracking, he finally agreed to go. * * * “ I haven’t really done anything today…” Edge spoke to his boyfriend. His brother, Christian sat by the window, watching the rain still come down against the window. “ That damn rain… Yeah, I’d like to do something.” He smiled, then looked over at Christian. “ Oh, but I don’t want to abandon Christian… So I’ll bring him along.” The younger of the brothers looked at the older one. Christian wanted to know what Edge was talking about. “ We could go to that new bar in town. How about eight? Okay, see you then… Bye, Dude.” Edge hung up the phone, after talking to Matt. He set it down in the cradle, and sat down next to Christian in the plush window seat. “ Hey, we’re going out tonight, okay?” Christian nodded, thankful for something to do. It had been a miserable day. “ Sounds good. Where?” “ That new bar in town. It’s got billiards and stuff, I thought it might be fun.” Looking at the clock, the younger brother found it was six. Getting up to get ready, Edge spoke again. “ We’re going with Matt and Jeff.” Christian felt his knees grow weak, and fall back down on the window seat. Edge stared at him. “ Dude, what’s wrong?” His brother was beginning to rethink going out. He didn’t want to be around Jeff. It hurt too much. “ I don’t want to go.” A little too quickly, he spit this out. Running his hand over his blonde hair, Edge wrinkled his nose. “ Why not?” Shaking his head, he told him. “ I just don’t want to?” “ Do you not like Matt and Jeff?” Christian got up, and crossed the room. “ That’s not it. They’re great.” Edge knew his brother was trying to run from him. He slowly went over to him. Putting his hands on his shoulders, he looked his little brother dead in the eyes, speaking firmly to him. “ Christian, you’re hiding something…” Christian couldn’t look in to his brother’s eyes. “ No, I’m not…” “ Christy…” His brother used his nickname for him. “ Please. I care about you, and whatever it is, I want to help you.” Swallowing back a sob, he yelled at his best friend. “ You can’t help it!” Edge knew to be patient with Christian. So he stroked his hair. “ At least tell me. Come on… I’m your brother.” His ‘Christy’ began to shake, fighting back tears. “ Oh, Christian…” Edge took him in his arms. His brother’s sympathetic embrace was the last straw. Breaking out in violent sobs against his brother’s chest, he burst in to tears. He cried for a bit, his emotions once again overpowering him. It hurt Edge to see his brother this way. He’d had rough times in the past, and needed to know what was causing him strife this time. Cupping his brother’s face in his hands, he wiped his tears. “ Please. Please tell me, Christian. Did someone do something to you? Was it one of the Hardyz-” “ God, Edge, I love Jeff!” Freezing, Edge’s eyes widened. Christian let out a shaky sigh, beginning to tame his tears. “ For how long?” “ Since you started going out with Matt! Almost a year!” Attempting a slight action of comfort, Edge rubbed his brother’s arm. “ Why didn’t you say anything?” Cold eyes pierced the older brother. “ You know why… It scares me, Edge!” Taking a few moments, he processed this information. “ Well, you can’t hide from him. Come with us, tonight. After all, they’re also you’re friends.” Sometimes, Christian wished he were as wise and strong as his brother was. He knew Edge would have gone. But he wasn’t so keen on the idea. To be continued... Please review and tell me what you think? Then I'll put up another chapter if you like it...
CHAPTER TWO
The billiards bar was big. So even with hundreds of people, it wasn’t crowded. Matt and Jeff had arrived before Edge and Christian, so they got a table for the four of them. Matt watched as Jeff start to put his fingernails to his teeth. “ You just did them, yesterday…” He said, referring to the black nail polish on his hands. Jeff resisted the urge to bite his nails, and instead, leaned his head on his arms. “ Sorry. It’s just that I get nervous around him, you know?” Matt nodded. “ I know how it feels. When I first met Edge, it was like that.” “ And you ended up with him…” Jeff sighed. Leaning his head on his hand, the brunette responded. “ You don’t know what will happen with you and Christian.” Jeff ran his hands through his violet hair. “ But you know how Christian is. It’s like he’s got this… Wall up around him, that only Edge can break down.” Silently, Matt noted how good of an analogy this was. It was true. No one but Edge knew the real Christian. All they knew was that he’d been through an experience that had left him scarred for life. He rarely showed his true self, but somehow, Jeff had seen it, and fallen in love with it. A blanket of snow seemed to often shield ones from his heart. So know one ever knew what he was really thinking. Rarely, he smiled, or made a little joke, but this occurred about once in a blue moon. “ Well, try.” Jeff held up a hand, telling Matt he didn’t know what to do. “ I don’t want to hurt him.” “ Be gentle…” He glanced up and a smile crossed his face. Jeff knew they were there. Matt had a smile that was only for Edge. Sure enough, a few moments later, they arrived. Matt got up to hug and kiss Edge, then he slid in to the booth next to him. This left Christian to sit next to Jeff, and he hesitated, before sitting down. When he did this, his leg brushed up against the younger Hardy’s. They both jumped, and inched away from one another. Fires began to stir in their loins, and they had a feeling this night would make them as miserable as all the other time they’d spent together had been. They didn’t even greet one another. There had been a time when they’d been good friends- Real close. But their hearts proved to be their foes when they fell in to secret love. Matt and Edge caught the tension in the room rise. They tried to think of something to start the conversation- Anything, but no such luck. Eventually, Matt called the waitress over. They ordered drinks and Buffalo Wings. The two lovers began some silly, flirty conversation, which their brothers could barely stand to listen to. They wished they could exchange those comments, while smiling at each other. Spend heated nights together, and wake up in the morning, still together… The spicy scent of Buffalo Wings wafted through the air a few minutes later, and a basket was set down in front of them, along with four drafts. Matt and Edge immediately dug in to the food. After a few wings, they realized their brothers weren’t eating. “ Aren’t you hungry?” Edge asked them. They both shook their heads. The truth was, it had gotten to the point where being around each other made them too nervous to eat. But they knew drinks might help to calm their nerves, so they reached for the beers. There was a bit of talking here or there, while they ate. None however, between Jeff and Christian. Eventually, Matt decided that they needed to be left alone. He whispered something in to Edge’s ear, and the two went off to the bathroom, grinning. Jeff rolled his eyes. He then looked over at Christian. Edge’s brother had been staring in to his empty draft glass, deep in thought. The lights hit his blonde hair, turning it golden. The impulse hit Jeff to run his hands through it, but he knew he couldn’t. Instead he just let his thoughts torture him. He’s so damn gorgeous. Christian felt Jeff’s eyes on him. When he looked up though, Jeff looked away. He asked a question to Christian, but it was too low to hear. “ What?” Jeff motioned to the pool tables. “ Up for a game or two?” Christian nodded, and the two got up. It gave them something to do, instead of sitting around in agonizing silence, wanting nothing more than each other. Jeff handed Christian a cue stick. This time their hands met, but the same sparks of heat that had gone through them when he'd sat down went through them again. Jeff took the triangle off the table, and positioned the cue ball to break. When he leaned down, his body and muscles shifted and showed against his tight-fitting clothes. This inwardly teased Christian to no end. He’s so hot… It’s not fair… But his thoughts were broken as the balls scattered among the table. The 2 ball slipped in to the corner. Jeff looked up at Christian for a few moments to find him looking back at him. For a few moments, they gazed at one another. Then their gaze was broken, and it seemed they’d climbed out of a pool of desire. * Matt and Edge decided to see what would happen if they left Jeff their brothers alone. Neither had spoken to the other about their brothers’ feelings. It was just chance they both wanted this. Besides… A bed somewhere was calling them. They found Jeff and Christian finishing their second game as the eight ball entered the corner pocket. “ Hey,” Matt approached them as Edge began to kiss his neck. “ We’re gonna go. Are you staying here?” The two shrugged. “ Whatever. See ya.” The older brothers waved goodbye and Matt dragged Edge out the door. That pang of jealousy hit them again, They wanted to be like that. Able to kiss, able to touch. Matt and Edge spent endless nights together, exploring bodies. This had been an undying fantasy for Jeff and Christian- To be like that. The later it got, the more crowded it became. Eventually, they got tired of it. “ You want to go?” Christian nodded. “ Good. Let’s go.” Matt and Edge had gone to Edge and Christian’s house, so the other two went to the Hardyz’. The drive there was just as painful as the evening had been so far. To Be Continued.
CHAPTER THREE
Disclaimer: I do not own the WWE. Nor do I own Christian, Edge, Matt, and unfortunately, Jeff is not mine. No point in suing me, unless you like old records… The second Jeff and Christian got out of the car, it seemed the sky completely opened up. Rain came down harder than the two had ever experienced. After the initial shock of it's ferocity wore off, the two started off quickly towards the house. It was only a few feet from the driveway, but by the time they set foot on the porch, they were soaked to the bone. Leaving their shoes in the front hall, they looked at one another. Perhaps to the eyes of another, they would have resembled wet dogs, but in the eyes of Jeff and Christian, this sight was nothing short of delectable. They drank in the sight for a few moments, then Jeff motioned towards his bedroom. " Come on. I'll get you some dry clothes." Only nodding, Christian followed. Jeff muttered some words in annoyance to the rain, and stripped off his shirt. The other man felt his member stir, and licked his lips. Jeff tossed Christian a dry shirt, and track pants. But the only thing the man could do was stare at the high-flyer. Eventually, Christian ducked his head, embarrassed for staring, and put the clothes on the bed. He pulled off his shirt, and prayed Jeff hadn't seen the way he'd looked at him. But Jeff HAD seen his gaze. Only, he couldn't discern what the gaze had held. " Christian?" He cocked his head, and went over. " You all right?" Christian couldn't bring himself to look at the eyes that bore harshly in to him. But when Jeff cupped his chin in his hand, he found himself looking at the face that haunted his dreams. His heart beat faster as Jeff put his hands on his bare arms. " What's up, man?" He tried again, a tinge of worry in his eyes. Edge's little brother couldn't speak. Instead, he looked at the way Jeff's smooth, bare chest glistened with rainwater. His head wasn't exactly functioning properly. It suddenly seemed Jeff's beauty was controlling him. The control started with his hands. He brought his hands up, and slid them down Jeff's chest, relishing the feel of Jeff's smooth skin, and tight muscles under his fingers. The other man tensed at the touch, then moaned softly, as his fingers caressed his body. He held Christian's face in his hand, and felt the blonde's arms go around his waist. With one more glance up at one another, they couldn’t take it any longer. It didn't matter who moved first- all that mattered was that they ended up in a sweet kiss. Their lips meeting sent electricity through their entire bodies. Christian whimpered against Jeff's lips. They were hesitant at first, but it felt so good. So right. So they drew each other closer, and their bodies became pressed together. Eventually, they found themselves falling to the bed, their tongues finding one another, and their kiss deepening. Hands explored soft, damp skin. Jeff kissed along Christian's neck. The man moaned, and ran his fingers through his violet strands. It was ecstasy. This is what they've wanted for so long, so badly. This was what they dreamt of, then woke up alone in lonely beds. This was their greatest wish. Slowly, Jeff's fingers danced down towards Christian's still wet pants. As they reached the edge (^_^) of his jeans, Christian froze. A memory flashed through his mind. It was the memory of him in this same position. The last time he let someone get so close to him. He drew in a short breath. Jeff looked up at him. " What is it, Christian?" Christian scrambled off of the bed, hearing Jeff call his name again. He pulled on his wet shirt, and looked back at Jeff, who looked surprised and forlorn. Then, without a word, he left.
CHAPTER FOUR
Disclaimer: Jeff, Edge, Matt and Christian still don't belong to me. : P. Chapter Four: Edge looked up as he heard the front door open and close. Scrambling to the living room, he sighed in relief. " Christian, where were you?" His little brother looked at him, then cast his eyes away. " Nowhere. Just driving around." Edge looked at the clock. " Dude it's noon." " I know." Was Christian's only reply as he went in to his bedroom. He pulled off his shirt, Edge standing in his doorway. He could feel the older of the two eyeing him thoroughly. There was something wrong, he knew it. They were brothers, and Edge's inferences were hardly ever incorrect. " And where did you go after the bar?" Christian didn't want to tell Edge. All night, and well in to the morning, he'd driven around, thinking only of his experience with Jeff. He eventually came to the conclusion that running from Jeff was a purely coward thing to do. But it just hurt so bad... " Nothing." Edge sighed, and rested his head against the doorway. " ' I was nowhere. I did nothing.'" He echoed some of Christian's words. " I don't believe you." Still refusing to answer his brother, he pulled on a Maple Leafs jersey. " Christian please." This hurt Edge, for the only thing was trying to do was look after his little brother. But there was no way he'd think of leaving him alone until he spoke. As he approached his little brother, Edge spoke in a soft, calm tone. " Christy? Were you with Jeff?" Christian nodded. Edge was beginning to get somewhere. " Did he do something to you?" The younger brother sighed. " He... I... Yes- No... It's what I did to him." Edge cocked his head. He then put his hands on his brother's shoulders. " What did you do to him?" Christian knew his brother wouldn't stop badgering him until he got the answers to his questions. It was a battle he'd never been able to win, so he forfeited once again. " We went back to Matt and Jeff's house. When we were getting out of the car, we got caught in the rain. Then, when we were inside. Jeff told me he'd get me dry clothes, so we went to his room, and..." He trailed off, leaving Edge dying to know what happened. " And?" " And he was so beautiful wet... So I kissed him." Edge was a bit taken aback by this. Christian's past with romance was not a fond memory for either of them. " Whoa... Then?" " Then we were on his bed. And he was kissing me, and it was just as I had imagined it would be. Then he touched me. He wasn't rough, he wasn't forceful, but it's just that... When he touched me, I remembered." Edge had seen this part coming when Christian mentioned they'd been on Jeff's bed. " I'm so sorry, Christy..." Christian let a tear slide down his cheek. " And I know Jeff isn't like HE was! But it's so hard..." Edge embraced his brother, and let him cry against his shoulder. " I know. It's not your fault." * When Matt arrived home, he found Jeff at the window seat, staring off in to the distance. The brunette searched his brother's eyes. He found them thoughtful, and what was more, dejected. " Jeff?" Matt pulled the desk chair over, so he could sit next to him. " Yeah?" Matt leaned forward on his arms. " What's up?" Jeff shrugged. " Nothin'." " Jeff..." Jeff's eyes were the window to his soul. They were the only passage in to him, and expressed to Matt what his heart felt when his voice refused. The blonde sighed, and ran his hand through his hair. " Christian ran from me." Matt sat straight. " Ran from you? What did you do last night?" Jeff told Matt his words in a nonchalant voice, but he this did for nothing, for his big brother knew he was hiding his true emotions. " We came here... Got caught in the rain... I offered to give him dry clothes... Went to my room... Then he kissed me. Then we were kissin' on the bed... I tried to touch him, I thought that was what he wanted... But he got off the bed, looked at me with this completely hurt look in his eyes... An' then he took off." The older man took a few moments to process this. " He kissed you?" " Yep." " And you tried to touch him." " Uh-huh." " Were you too dominant?" Jeff jumped up. " Of course not, Matt! Christian... He's special. I love him. I was gentle, I know I was!" Matt put his hand on his brother's arm. " All right, calm down." " I can't!" Jeff shouted. " Do you have any idea what that does to a person? To give them hope, then take it away just like that? No! You don't!" His older brother looked away. Jeff sighed. " I'm sorry, Matty, it's just... Difficult, when you love somebody, and then they go off, and hide from you." * * * It was late when Jeff got the phone call. He picked it up, as another ring would have woke up his brother. " Hello?" " Jeff, it's Edge..." Jeff paused. "Hey." " Hi... Listen, I need to talk to you. It's about Christian." The Hardy knew how protective Edge could be of his brother at times. " Look- I didn't-" But Edge cut him off in a gentle tone. " I know... Just meet me in an hour at the bar, okay? It's important." " All right. See you there."
CHAPTER FIVE AND SIX
Disclaimer: I still don't own anyone in this story... My birthday is Thursday, anyone wanna get me Jeff? Chapter Five Jeff walked in to the bar, and looked around for Edge. The older blonde was sitting at a table, absentmindedly running his fingers along the mouth of the beer bottle. Upon glancing up, he found the younger of the Hardyz looking around for him. Without much of a smile, he waved Jeff over. He made his way to Edge's table, and sat down. " Hi." He solemnly greeted the brother of the man who had close to broken his heart the previous night. " Hey, man." A few silent moments passed. After all, what could they say? But when the silence got too awkward, Jeff began to speak. " Listen. I was hoping you could tell me what's going on with Christian." Edge nodded. " That's what we're here for... I care about my brother. And I care about you, too, we're buddies. So that's why I think it's important we have this conversation. I want to see the two of you together." Jeff almost smiled, and nodded. But he felt as if he hadn't smiled in a year- his heart just hadn't let him. Edge ran a hand through his hair. " Christian, he's... He's scared of a relationship." Jeff cocked his head. " Why? He's had them in the past, hasn't he?" The other man nodded. " All right. I'll tell you a story. And it doesn't have a happy ending... It's the reason he ran from you the other night." Edge took a long swig of beer, before starting to speak. " Christian isn't as happy as he used to be. And it's all Jericho's fault." Jeff opened his mouth to speak, but then closed it again, thinking better than to speak, and instead, just listened. " A few years ago, Christian was involved with Jericho, as you might remember. And my brother LOVED HIM. In his view, that son of a bitch was the greatest thing to ever happen to him. So they were together for a year or so. God, Christian was SO happy. He wanted to marry Chris. " They might have gotten married, too. When I saw them together, they seemed content, like nothing could mess with their relationship. Then just like that, Jericho left him. Christian gave him everything, and then he went to be the Rock's bitch. " So my brother swore he'd never love anyone again. That's probably why he took off last night, because you were the first person to get that close to him in a long time. And he remembered what the last person had done to him... " So for a while, he sheltered himself from everyone who came on to him. A lot of them were nice guys, too, guys I would have wanted Christian to be in a relationship with. But he refused every time. Then he met you. " Jeff, he loves you. He told me so. And I know you. You won't treat him like that. Will you...?" Jeff shook his head. " Of course not." He whispered, his voice caught in his throat from the tale. It had made him nearly sick to his stomach. Edge reached across the table, to rub his arm. " Tell him that." ~*~ TO BE COMPLETED Author's note: Ok. So that chapter was a little short. But the next one is the last one. Will Christian accept Jeff's love? Or will he only push him away?... Disclaimer: Want Jeffy… No havey. Or Edgey. Or Matt. Or Christian…y. o_O. Chapter Six: FINAL CHAPTER Jeff paused outside Christian's room. He couldn’t bring himself to knock on the door. Taking off his baseball cap, he ran his hand through his hair, before putting it back on backwards. After taking one last breath, he finally knocked. " Come in!" Christian expected Edge to walk in, it was the one who mostly did so, but his heart began to pound as it was Jeff. Slowly, he closed the door behind him. For a few moments, they gazed at each other. " Christian.” He breathed. But the other man looked away, not being able to bring himself to look at the man he loved. " Christian, please let me talk to you." He closed his eyes, and shook his head. " Jeff, I… You can't-" But Jeff wouldn't let him push him away again. " I know. I know why." Suddenly, Christian looked up at Jeff. He sat staring at the Hardy, not saying a word. " What did Edge tell you?" He asked, after a while. " About… Jericho." Jericho… At the very word, Edge's brother flinched. Slowly, Jeff began to walk towards him. Christian was sitting on the bed, and drew his knees up to his chest, as if to shelter himself from Jeff. Jeff kneeled down in front of the bed. " Look… I can't imagine how it felt, but I know it must have been rough. And I know you're scared. But please, don't fear me. I would never, ever, do what he did to you. He didn't know what he had. But I know you. I know how much you are. And Christian, I love you." Christian choked back a sob. Jeff continued. " I don't want to press you. But if you ever want someone who'll love you, and be there for you, you don't have to look much further than me." Shakily, Christian sighed. " Jeff, I love you, too…" Jeff's heart swelled at these words. " I'll wait for you… If you need more time-" " No!" Christian exclaimed. He hesitated, then put his hands on Jeff's face, him relishing their gentle feel. " I trust you, Jeff. I've loved you for a while, and I… I can't wait any more." Leaning down, Christian caught Jeff's mouth with his. The other man whimpered gently at the contact of their lips, and they shared a deep, sweet kiss. Finally, Jeff slowly broke it. He climbed on to the bed, and took Christian in his arms. Stroking his blonde hair, he whispered words of truth. " I'll take good care of you, baby. I promise." ~*~ Matt found Edge in the hallway, straining to hear what Jeff and Christian were saying. " Eavesdropper." Matt grinned. His lover looked over at him, and smiled. He walked over, and Matt's arms slid around his waist. " You'll just have to punish me." The blonde grinned. Matt chuckled. " Hear anything?" Edge nodded. " A bit. It sounds like they made out fine." The older of the Hardyz stroked Edge's hair. " I hope they end up in a relationship as good as ours. I love you, Edge." Gently, Edge placed his lips on Matt's for a short kiss. " I love you, too." THE END Author's note: Yay! No more disclaimers! Well, for this story anyway. ^_^. So? What did you think? Should I do a sequel? ( If I can think of ideas. @_@'.)
