| Sooo, my history in martial arts... how did I ended up devoting myself to this kind of art? It all started way back when I was little... from what I can remember I was always thinking about martial arts or acting like a ninja, bruce lee or some fantasy made-up kind of super hero bull shit!=D Anyway, I have to commit... I was kind of a pussy and didn't really dared to step up! I was quite a shy guy and never had a fight. I do have an older brother who watched fighting movies like "Kickboxer" and stuff like that so I did saw those things when I was little. I don't think any of this actually had any influence in my love for martial arts though. Some friends of myn were practicing Judo and I just entered there group to see if it would fit my style. Well I won a couple of tournaments and I also lost some... Anyway, Judo wasn't my thing.. I wanted to practice the art of Aikido and thought Judo might be a good basics befor Aikido. When I met sensei Glenn Fang I asked him if I was old enough to qualify for his Aikido lessons. He said it didn't mather anymore becouse he was in charge now! Well I immidietly got exited and started out the same week! Aikido and sensei Glenn Fang thought me allot! He became my mentor, sensei and friend... he got me of everything bad I did in my life and made me a respectable young man. I owe him much.. Domo arigato Sensei!! My training schedule became tougher and bigger, first Judo and right after that Aikido 3 days a week. On empty training days I went out for other dojo's, gym's and training area's for all kinds of martial arts. When taking all these test lessons I kind of got a picture of what kind of martial arts where going on around here. It made me all-round but next to that also a little crazy becouse of all the differend styles going trough my head. No steady basis is what followed... Anyway, I found out that Judo didn't had anything to offer me anymore. A short period later I found a Taekwondo Dojang! I asked some friends to come along with me and take a test lesson. I liked it very much and signed in. Now in this day I practice Taekwondo and took more test lessons all over the country. Now my basics are formed by: - Aikido - Taekwondo These 2 arts I have masterd the most of what I learned. Next to this I know allot of other techniques coming from other martial arts but I can't call that a genuine basis. |
