The poles were obtained from Bert, Boulton and Haywards in Newport. They were given the final touches to turn them into masts, a job that was carried out on a 50ft low-loader railway carriage , which was supplied to us by the Bristol Industrial Museum.
The stepping of the masts was a painless affair which took one hour. It caused great interest that morning as we used a railway crane (Pink Flamingo) which was supplied again from the Bristol Industrial Museum.
