Beyond the Room
Back
A single tear slipped down her cheek
As she watched her mother die.
Years of lost misunderstanding,
Yet, she couldn't even cry.

The pain that slowly took over
Would never let her sleep;
And now that she stood by her bed
She felt the fear run deep.

Leaning over to kiss her cheek
She left the sullen grave;
Blindly seeking what she'd lost
Trying harder to be brave.

The answers to her questions
Had slipped through her grasp once more.
As the life that had once been inside,
Followed her out beyond the door.

What had those years done to her?
Where did the pain now lie?
In long lost hate and argument,
In her ability to never cry.

Sitting down and looking back,
Her head dropped to her knees.
There was no one left to comfort her,
No one to hear her pleas.

The answers were forever lost
With no trace left to find.
Closing her eyes, leaning back,
She left the world behind.
